It's always worked offline, you can play the entire story offline the same as the previous two games.

You just don't obtain unlocks or gain levels along with not having the online features available like contracts mode or leaderboards, etc.

If you're only going to play the story once through you don't need to be online.

So that would be a no.

No, you need to be online for unlocks still. If that’s a concern use the peacock project.

its a work around for people to run a virtual server on their computer to run hitman online. if you are in north america, or europe, or basically anywhere that has electricity, this app is quite frankly useless. you really going to lose power/internet in the middle of a storm and your first though will be "aw man i cant play hitman now?" get a grip.

I live in the capital of Scotland and the internet here cuts out pretty frequently.

Looking at how little you played the previous two games the answer would be yes it works. You seem to only play the story once through and quit without doing anything beyond that, which you can do offline

It's not like you even did anything in the last 2 beyond that

I didn't bother playing the game that much because of the episodic nonsense they tried to pull with it. I only have the missions they gave away for free because I was waiting for the game to be complete one day and to work offline before I even consider giving them money with such an anti consumer business model.

That was only applicable with hitman 2016.
