How do I easily get merces?

I lost 90k cause the damn game wanted, I want them back.

1st is the obvious: payout objectives, random supply caches, safes, and couriers. The rest is the not so obvious ways to get merces.

If you don't want mods, there's the vault at the bank in New York (dont forget to pull the server out as well), the safe in Rico Delgato's office in Santa Fortuna, and the safe at the back of the meeting room in Mendoza.

If you do want mods, on nexus there's Hidden Merces[www.nexusmods.com] and Rogueless Freelancer[www.nexusmods.com]

1st mod replaces various things with merces (has options), and the 2nd mod has an option to guarantee winning by playing the stock market at the laptop in the vault in the safehouse. Vault requires 16 mastery.

There's also a couple more mods that affect the stock market, I know one makes you always lose, and the other changes how rigged it is. I haven't tried either of them.

1. If you still have equipment to buy, you should never have that much merces to lose. Always buy everything you can each mission just to get it out of the way to cycle the supplier inventory and to keep your merces loss risk low.

2. If you already have everything then you would realize 90k is practically nothing, you'll have made and lost millions by the time you get anywhere near finishing all the challenges and unlocks.

if you don't want to mod, take silent assassin objectives in the first two or three syndicates and try to get syndicates that have new york because its still like +5000 merces for picking new york and its usually an easy map

I honestly found you can still get the legendary shotgun from the vault, but would need some prep work first (because this way intentionally sounds the alarm):

• If you are doing it during a showdown, do it after killing the leader, or you'll likely have a lookout near the vault and then there'd be problems (if in hardcore, I highly suggest doing the prestige objective as well before attempting)
  
• get the key to the truck in the garage, in case things go bad, you have a quick escape.
  
• lure/kill the security guards in the rooms and garage near the vault, all will come when the lasers are tripped. Ideally hide the bodies if you didn't poison the room with sedative or lethal poison. If you do hide the bodies, I like to leave space in the cloth bin next to the basement security room to hide in.
  
• get the guard at the entrance to take away a gun, as he is in the way of the ideal path to the basement after getting the robber disguise, then deal with him when he gets to the weapon crate behind lost and found.
  
• If the prestige is SA related, you can wait for the guard and lady bank teller to have the conversation and leave the bathroom nearest the entrance, then lure and hide the bodies of the 2 robbers.
  
• Make sure you are in the Bank Robber disguise when opening the vault, and DO NOT change until after the shotgun has spawned.
  
• after the vault is open, touch a laser then run away and hide until the alarm that has sounded has stopped and the guards return to normal (really hope you don't have the hardcore prestige objective of killing the leader as they escape, as it will likely happen now)
  
• you can freely loot the vault now.

Yup. The devs still try to make this mode even more miserable than it already is by changing stuff on the maps to make everything as inconvenient as possible for the players. Because why not?

yeah, the lasers aren't a big deal honestly (you can just crouch under them), but they should still allow a way to get the golden shotty that isn't convoluted like the post above. I honestly just thought they patched it out of freelancer and that it was only obtainable with merces now. Even after sneaking into the vault with the robber outfit and not setting off the lasers at all made it not spawn so I assume the lasers being off is a pre-requisite.

Maybe just making it so you have to sneak into the IT room and knock out the IT guys to turn off the security panel to the vault (which does nothing on freelancer right now, this can turn off lasers on Freelancer instead, or let the keycard reader to turn off lasers spawn when turning the security system off)

Eh, it's convoluted, but does allow people who have vision impairments who can't see the lasers loot the vault. I don't have any visual impairments (other than nearsightedness that is corrected with glasses), but was just lazy and didn't want to do the laser dance.

Yea, you just crouch under most of them and time your crossing the lower ones as they turn off, it's pretty simple and just takes an extra second of paying attention to the timing
