Game crashing on Linux (Ubuntu 22.04)
I'll preface this by saying I've been spending an hour or so hunting solutions, but everything I find is either specific to Windows, doesn't work for me, or isn't dumbed down enough for my just-off-migraine-meds monkey brain that hasn't used Linux since this past June, on hardware that couldn't even run the game. That being said, it's pretty much exactly as it is in the title. My brain has about the same power output as a potato battery rn, so try to dumb it down as much as possible, please and thank you. If you need any more information, I'd be happy to provide it to you

EDIT: So the issue was something I wasn't able to fix due to my financial situation. However, this turned out to be a surprisingly good troubleshooting thread, so I'll still be leaving it up for anyone who needs it

you have not tried that before ? eben old eidos tomb raider games run with some version of proton ... but of course; also steam hardware has amd so that is the reason why we are lucky to be on linux.
I just realised I forgot to update on this lmao sorry. So I did try it with a few versions, and none of them have worked. At this point I'm mostly out of options, but I will be leaving this thread up, both incase there's anything else I'm missing, and to potentially help anyone else

yes great ; i just want to emphasise that almost all games run with Sapphire Radeon

i have 4 of them, 3 still in use.

games i did not expect to run at all (but they still do):

Guardians of the Galaxy
Hoirizon Zero Dawn
A Plaque Tale: Innocence (i have not bought the new one yet)

in fact i had some graphical issues with Guardians and switched back to Proton 8 instead of experimental and that did the trick.

... also i had problems in the past with Hitman which had a native Linux port at one point in time but i am also using proton whenever the native port still uses OpenGL because Proton will translate to Vulkan and run much faster.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider both have native Vuikan ports and run very well.

Nvidia might be better for OpenGL ... it certainly is.

In getting to this super late but I do want to point out that I can’t afford a new graphics card at this time. I’m positive that’s the problem at this point, but until my financial situation changes, it’s gonna stay the problem

i understand. just wanted to describe the current situation using radeon on linux.

my guess would be that new drivers will fix this in the future anyway.
