Freelancer mode just... broke.

I got this game to play freelancer mode. The rest of the game doesn't particularly interest me, and I was having fun with it until, all of a sudden after a mission, my game crashes to desktop.

I restart the game, and try to open freelancer mode and... it crashes again. And again. And again. Always in the exact spot right as I load into the safehouse a little past Diana's voiceover. Nothing I have done to try to fix this has remedied the situation. Not verifying integrity of game files, not redownloading, not changing settings, not updating drivers or reverting to old drivers. Nothing. And since there's no way to restart Freelancer mode, it just keeps happening. I even thought of deleting the save files from my computer to make the game think I've never played it before, but apparently the save files are stored on the game's servers and not locally.

This has resulted in asking, sadly, for a refund from Steam. The reason I've made this post is that I'm hoping someone has come up with a solution, or at least something else I can try, or has heard the developer say something that points to them knowing about the issue.

Edit: So, it seems there's a way to request to IOI that they delete your HITMAN saves. Someone in another thread made me aware of it and even sent me a link: https://personal.hitman.io/

It could take up to 30 days apparently, but this will work for me since I have no interest in the other game modes. For those of you who are playing the other game modes this might be a bit of a drastic solution, but I'm letting you know about it so that you have the option, at least.

Edit 2: The deletion happened nearly instantly, and I can confirm that Freelancer mode is now, indeed, playable again.

Considering the game stores save data remotely, have you considered running any other game mode to alter the save state? Load up campaign, choose any location, beat a level, then re-try loading freelancer

I have exactly this problem. Freelancer loads, Diana talks for a little bit then the game crashes to desktop. I literally cant play Freelancer.

I have sent a ticket to IO Interactive but they havent got back to me. I have already reinstalled the game, minimize graphics settings to lowest, rolled back graphics drivers. Nothing has worked.

Everything else works fine though, so Im thinking the problem might be on their end.

Lots of people have had problems with these crashes, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with your setup or card etc., the game is just outright broken right now. If you can get a refund that's the recommendation for now.

had the same issue, i just waitet for like 5 hours and I could acces it again and when not i just penetratet the freelancer thing for so long that it worked again.

I've made an edit to my original post with a potential solution, depending on how desperate you are.

Here is the solution. It works for me! Thank god it's playable again.
Step 1: Make sure you start the game in WINDOW mode. (I set the game running in 720p and low quality)
Step 2: Start Freelancer.
Step 3: Important! After loading finishes, Diana start her voiceover, at the very moment ahead of her first word, Press Alt+Tab, to focus on other app so that the game will auto pause.
Step 4: Go back to the game. Change some settings such as higher resolution and DLSS etc. Apply and the game runs well!!! NO CRASH!!

it still crashes for me ive tried everything but it simply doesnt work
