''get gid'' when the game glitches and makes me unable to escape?? hahaha dumb 12yo please grow up... also it is game over, it literally resets the entire campaign and all of your looted items...leave this thread and never come back...
DOS32 is at least partially correct though. Only when you lose on a map that is on alert you will lose a campaign. Otherwise you will:
- Lose 50% of your current mercers.
- Lose the equipment you had on you when you died.
- Continue your current campaign, though the remaining missions in the current contract will all be set to "Alert" status. (Which means that if you lose on them, the campaign will be over).
Any weapons kept in the safehouse will always be safe, no matter if you lose a campaign. Progress on your Freelancer level will also be kept. The lack of saves during missions and the punishment for losing can make the game mode tough, but it is billed as a rogue-like after all.
I haven't seen any bugs related to being unable to escape myself though. What exactly happens? Are you simply not able to interact with the escape point at all? I'm going to guess it is not simply a case of the escape point being locked.
I press 'G' to escape, and nothing happens. The prompt is there but I cannot go through with it.
Is not important, you can always escape before the end of the mission.
Seems another new bug of showdown.
guess what the solution is? alt f4 before you die.
Because freelancer requires map knowledge and ability to adapt to any situation.
Play some story mode or random contracts to get better and try freelancer after that, it's not supposed to be friendly for inexperienced players.
To OP, if you encountered any sort of bugs or glitches, it's alwasy safe to alt+f4 and try again.
Bro. I've been spawned several times in the school in morocco, and I've been spawned in the ruins on the sapienza map. Some of these spawns are genuinely absolute trash.
I may suck at the game, but these spawns are legitimately trash. The two morgue doctors almost never stopped staring in my direction, and just when I thought I had an opening the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ turns around while I'm getting up.
I think I'm around mastery 25 now. Regardless I enjoy the game mode, but these spawns are garbage. Not fun to be doing a timed trial and get spawned in the morocco school. Literally impossible unless you're doing the hide and seek one.
Edit: On the island for the ark mission I've spawned on some stone tower a few times and had to eliminate all the guards and butler without alerting everyone. I can adapt, but the point is that some of these spawns make the prestige mission you choose impossible.
On the other end of the spectrum I've spawned at the docks, but my target spawned at the very top of the map. I only have 2 minutes to reach them. This is impossible for obvious reasons.
If you have tranquilizer gun with you it's even easier.
Prestige trials are not necessary unless you're going for HC run which I doubt you do. Pick the ones you can reliably complete.
They are. Prestige trials give the most money. Necessity has nothing to do with it.
Also I can't really pick a prestige trial on the basis of reliability when the timed ones are easy until the game ♥♥♥♥♥ you with a horrific spawn point. You cannot realistically plan anything around a random spawn point.
Also, freelancer is all about player's ability to adapt to any situation. You can't plan anything because you have no idea who's your target and where is it. The key is to have on you all useful tools and map knowledge.
Also 2 minutes to cross the map is pretty generous if you know the map.
That's boring bro. I bring all the tools I actually have for your information. Of course I'm not going around the safehouse collecting every scrap of garbage lying around, but that'd be tedious, boring and ultimately not why anyone would play a roguelike mode.

This is what happens whenever I'm in Dubai, and whenever I spawn in the Morocco school. Though Dubai is on purpose, and morocco is because the spawn is just that bad.
Not being able to plan anything is the issue with these horrendous spawns. You pick time trials because you assume you'll spawn somewhere that won't result in you fighting a dozen guards, but when you do suddenly you're busy desperately trying to get a disguise before anyone notices you. The same goes for silent assassin.
