Has anyone noticed a memory leak occurring with the new freelance mode?
As the title suggest I'm getting an occasional memory leak after a mission or so, frame rate will just drop to the 10~s and all 10GBs of memory from my 3080 is taken.

Anyone else getting something similar?

I hit a low of 24fps on Ambrose Island today on a beach with like three people on it, I restarted the game and didn't have any more issues afterwards. My frames initially tanked on Mumbai, but it then continued into Ambrose. Something weird has happened for sure.

Getting this exact issue; after a couple of missions, framerate starts dropping like crazy in 10 second bursts, forcing me to restart the game.

I got it on Sgáil twice when reaching the big altar, as well as Paris somewhere I don't remember. It's just a sharp drop to 3FPS for me, while it otherwise runs at 60-70 at all times.

Same problem since the update. I can play, but when i load a save game in a level for more times the graphics memory will be full and go over the card limit. Low fps and stuttering are the consequences. Acutally i have no fix found, changing presets or installing a new driver dont solve the problem. Only restart the game fix it for a short time. Last weekend i didnt have any problems like this.

Same here, starts fine initially but then seems to drops.

Also when I ALT-tab out of the game and back in the game my V-Ram goes over the red ingame and FPS drops to 5-10. But I don't hear the card struggling in any way and when I am on my desktop (alt-tabbed out) everything works including browsing internet and watching twitch streams or youtube videos without any hiccups there.

Task manager also shows jumps to 100% GPU for Hwoa. Def has to be a memory leak here. Game restart fixes it, but also fails the mission :(

Yeah, thought GPU had issues but it seems it's update. Sometimes after loading game FPS randomly drops to 20-30 and stay like that until game relaunch. Sometimes after loading everything seems fine but any room with mirror drop fps to 20-30, until relaunch. Everything was fine 120+ fps all the time before update. When these FPS drops occur gpu load jumps to 99-100% even in heavy cpu limited areas but power consumptions goes way down (from 370w to 150w)

Manually update your graphic card drivers.

I had the same issue, sometimes the game would just start dip from triple- into single-digit fps numbers when loading in new areas, reloading a save did not help either.

It turned out my GeForce Experience could not automatically update my drivers (still had drivers from September last year for some reason), and after manually installing the most recent ones, the fps-massacre went away. Hope this helps ~

I don't use GE. And I also updated drivers removing them with DDU before fresh install. So it's either latest driver involved or you simply not encountered issue due to small play session. Try to load games like 10 times while monitoring VRAM usage (if you don't know how setup MSI afterburner correctly just use Graphic Options settings you can track current VRAM usage here) or alt-tab several times.

I see, but I have yet to encounter any issues after updating my drivers. (and I had a looooong play session when freelancer came out - maybe it is just something different.)

The fact you cleanly reinstalled your drivers is very good to know, and probably follows the vein of this earlier reply, now that I read it.

I'm clueless then, the only other thing i changed in the option was turning the sunshadow-raytracing off, because it was enabled by default for some reason.

Maybe that will help your cause... best of luck on your journey to get it running smoothly again, though. c:

I've just had a 5 hour session (much more than I've done in a long time) with my 3080 and no issues whatsoever. I'm on 527.56.

It very well could be a lot of things honestly, clearly something is leaking. Would be weird if it was a driver, more rather a core engine problem related to a setting or something not working right.

Doesn't seem to be tied to maps though I did experience it on the newest level "Ambrose" so maybe not.

Thanks for your helping, raytracing is off at my presets, cause performance on a 2070S would be not great.
Problem is producible at each level. Start a game, walk a little bit, save and load. Every load the vram increases 150-250mb and stay at the session. Next load again and again till the vram is full and over the border and the fps drops to 30-40 fps. You can it also producible to get on desktop and in the game, same here every klick around 150-250mb more vram.

no idea what it could be, i have tested some possible fixes but no solution for this problem:

- newest driver 528.24
- delete pipelinecache and pipelinelibrary
- checking the game for any failure over steam
- change settings (Edit: solution next Page)

i hope it comes timely a update for the game, i dont konw what else should I test

Edit: solution for me look next Page

Since freelancer and escalations don't allow saves, this memory leak is especially egregious because it's happened to me at the end of very long runs and it pratically becomes unplayable. Single Digit FPS, doesn't matter the the level. All inputs become 3 seconds delayed so its pratically a forced loss when it happens.

As a work around: You can alt+f4 out of freelance missions and not be penalized should the problem happen. Unfortunately you lose your progress in the mission obviously. Try not to save scum ;)
