Best way to acquire the trilogy

Hi everyone,

I'm planning on getting the trilogy when the game is next on sale. I'm fairly sure I read that owning Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 automatically gives you the access passes for Hitman 3. Is that also true for Hitman 1's Goty content and Hitman 2's Gold edition content ?

If so, is there any reason to acquire the access passes rather than the game when the total, at least on sale, seems to be around the same (if not lower) ? Except you get to experience the original Hitman and Hitman 2 as they were intended (I've read a few mechanics changed, and I'm a sucker for as-intended stuff) but also the bonus of being able to play with the new features AND Hitman 1/2 maps in Freelancer (if I'm correct at least).

Also what's the deal with the GOTY Upgrade in Hitman 2 and 3. There is not GOTY Upgrade pack in Hitman 1, just the GOTY bundle. If I buy the Hitman 1 GOTY bundle, will I also get the access pass for the GOTY Upgrade ? My guess is it's a way for people who have Hitman 1 without the GOTY edition to get the GOTY content in Hitman 2 and 3 without paying the full access pass price and actually only represents the content gap between base Hitman 1 and its GOTY bundle, right ?

If you buy Hitman 1 GOTY, it will grant the access pass in hitman 2 (both demo and purchased versions) You do have to install and start the game and make an IOI account to register ownership.

If you buy Hitman 3, it grants the access pass for whatever content you own in Hitman 2.

You can purchase the access passes instead, but I would buy the games because some of the game-mechanics in the games are different, and some content from hitman 1 and 2 isn't available in the access pass in later games.

Between hitman 1 and 2, only the content (maps) transfers, unlocks and achievements do not.
Between 2 and 3, pretty much everything transfers but only once, and itt will override what you did in 3, so if you want to play the full story in one go, you can do it in 3, but play 2 and unlock everything before transferring.

The upgrades are for people who bought the games earlier and in ways that are not available any longer (for example, the regular version for hitman 1, and hitman 2 or hitman 2 silver)

That's the case, if you own the previous games (H1 GOTYE and H2 Gold) you're able to claim for free the full access passes in Hitman 3.

Buying HITMAN 3 Trilogy plus the Trilogy Premium Add-Ons Bundle was cheaper than buying the previous two games and Hitman 3 in the last STEAM sales.
It used to be cheaper buying H1 GOTYE and H2 Gold plus H3 but now getting the full H3 package is cheaper on STEAM. This was from the last STEAM sales:

@TheOrangeBox Ah yes I didn't accoung fr the seven deadly sins add-on ! Though for such a minute difference I'll probably go the buying-each-game route, just to have the "original" experience, at least in terms of story, then move on to 3 for Challenges and stuff like that !
