Make Hitman 3 available for Windows 7

It's unreasonable to not give us an option and lying about it on your specs page. DX12 is unnecessary. Nothing that was in Hitman 2 is all that different from 3. Make it work. Make the offline mode playable. Down with the greed.

If the game was available on particular OS at launch then it must support that OS in all updates. Period.
Hitman 8 is not new game for PS5/XSeX, it's the final game in Hitman 6-7-8 trilogy, built on the same engine and it supported 7 on launch.

Hitman 3 is an updated engine from the previous 2 games so that comparison doesn’t really work. Also they don’t have to do that. Windows 7 stopped getting support for awhile not to mention you cant even purchase 1 or 2 anymore.

You clearly didn't read what i've written. I have latest build of Windows 10 Professional installed but it's still ****. Nobody likes this pathetic OS, they're just trying to force us onto this crap while Windows 7 perfectly does the job.

I don't want this OS and if i have to be forced to use it to play this game, then i'll play it casually when i'm willing to switch to this crappy system.

Even worse, it was possible to play this game on Windows 7 before latest updates. They just removed this possibility for whatever reasons, but certainly not security issues.

I'm not the only one thinking this. Lots of people despise this newer version of Windows for good reasons. Writing rants about it definitely helps make them understand that i strongly disagree with this and that it will impact my playing time on this sequel.

They're not going to make a modern game run on an Operating system that reached End-Of-Life on January 14, 2020.

Windows 7 will keep being updated until 2025, and it's even possible to make DX12 compatible. I wouldn't make that rant if it was pointless. It was clearly a deliberate choice just like many others. Not because of supposed security issues, but because they want us to switch to that crappy OS.

Windows 10 is such a downgrade in so many levels, i can wait a few more years before making it my main OS (after removing all that useless crap that they put in of course).

It might work because it was made for the same case as far as I know. The game isn't running on lower Windows versions, but the patch fixes it.

The patch repurposes files made for the Linux gaming community to "translate" DirectX to Vulkan, if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you for the tip. I've tried many things to be able to play it on the same system, that's literally the only game that makes me use Windows 10, and i only turn it on for that reason. That would've been much simplier to keep it compatible with Windows 7 just like previous games and offer the possibility to also play it on Windows 10 for those who wants an "enhanced" experience. But sadly it didn't happen.

If you don't wanna have such unreasonable limitations in the first place, you can try switching to Linux. A newbie friendly distro would be Linux Mint Cinnamon e.g.: https://linuxmint.com/download.php

I know linux and i've already tried it and it's not as good as Windows in terms of gaming performances and compatibility, and i don't use it that much anyway. I prefer stick with Windows for the moment but forcing me into Windows 10 might make me reconsider this in the future.

What is worse is that it's not a compatibility issue: there was a possibility of playing it before update 3.40 using vulkan patches, but they removed that. It seems that they really want us into Windows 10 no matter what...

Me and others don’t care how you feel about the os. The fact is it win 7 isn’t supported anymore for most games and will continue to do so. If you want work around a go ahead if you run into issues do to that it’s your own fault.

If it was a few years since you have tried it, do give Linux a chance again. Ever since Valve released Proton 7, and introduced Gamescope, performance is perfectly 1:1 in most cases, while some games actually perform better on Proton than on native Windows.
If you really want to stick to Windows, upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC. It's a debloated version of Windows 10 Enterprise, provided by Microsoft to companies, but as long as you don't live in the US, you can get a legal key for it. It doesn't have *any* modern Windows applications, just the classic ones from Windows 7, and Telemetry and Windows Update can be completely disabled.

NFS Underground 2 and Hitman Contracts should too be updated to run only on Win11?

It won't run on those OS because the devs aren't going to update a several year old game to run on the most recent OS if they even exist. Just like devs or anyone working with current software isn't going to make sure newer products will work with outdated software. By that logic games should be able to still run on GPU's and CPU's several generations old.

I don't understand what you mean. I'm not "sticking it" to Windows. I just use whatever is the best tool for the job, as long as that tool can be run inside a very isolated Xen VM.

This is such a dumb thing to be complaining about. Valve itself has announced that Steam will no longer run on Windows 7 and 8 from 1/1/2024, so why on earth would IOI pour resources into making this game run on an old OS that is only viable for the next 8 months?

I personally believe that all games should support Windows XP. I don't like change, but I do like defending outdated operating systems whenever I have the chance.

Until then I'll continue to play Hitman 3 on Windows 11 with up-to-date drivers and security patches. Might seem completely reasonable, sensible, and practical to do this - but where's the fun in that?

I can't stress how you should switch to Windows 10 LTSC enough. It's everything you like about Windows 7, with nothing of what you hate about regular Windows 10, and can still run everything.
