This is a sad mess.....

I am sad. Hitman is a great series. I've been a fan since the beginning of the 47. I played all the parts. I bought them all in the days when the internet was in its infancy and we only had CD editions. Steam did not exist.
When Steam arrived, I bought the old series again. I wanted to create a nice STEAM collection. When IOI restarted the series, I was looking forward to it.
Well, It started to get weird with a lot of messy editions, episodic publishing etc. But I supported IOI. Hitman 2 did better, but the problem with the chaos surrounding the edition persisted. Then It was announced H3 would be exclusive to EGS. That hurt me a lot .. I still bought it (because I'm probably stupid). "I'm a fan, I want to play it:" I thought.
Then another mess happened ... Problematic transfer of H1 and 2 to EGS ....
And today? Hitman 3 finally came out on Steam and i dont want to buy it. Why? Because I feel deceived. Again. The game is practically free on the Game Pass. It can be bought at a discount on EGS. Only on Steam is overpriced. The publisher is still hurting the strongest gaming community in the world and fans of Hitman series. Because they believe we will pay again ...... :(
Don't get me wrong, the game is great but the marketing is terrible. It will make money but definitely anger the most devoted fans....

If we really want to get down to it, this is EGS's fault, and IOI's fault. This is what happens when exclusivity exists. It breeds a toxic environment and toxic behavior.

I do not own and have never played any of the Hitman games.

I just spent $100 on the trilogy. Do you think it is worth it?
I know people are going to tell me I am crazy to pay that when on game pass it is pretty much free.

I have not played yet but I really want to support them for adding VR.

No, I am not rich at all. Honestly I am super poor. VR is fun to me tho because I am legally blind, can not drive and VR in sim racing is amazing

This trilogy managed to get basically no money from me despite being a lifelong Hitman fan that enjoys all the games... purely because they leaned way too heavily on utterly confusing and anti-consumer store pages. The slap of exclusivity didn't help, but this full price release sealed the deal for me. They're only interested in money from massive deals as far as I can tell... perhaps that's why they're also working on a 007 game now?

They rally don't seem to have the interests of the average player in mind, the store page is like a trap of confusing BS that's designed to have you over-pay and not even know what content you have and don't have. I really don't get it but I know I won't support it with my money... although I do still enjoy the games so I play them when they're HEAVILY discounted and available from sellers other than IOI (key resellers).

Not really, they jacked up prices on other outlets to match steam. So IO basically screwed everyone and treating the steam release as a new

On HumbleBundle Epic version cost 30€ and Steam 60€ at this time and it's in a gamepass subscription. And I'm not talking about 1year exclusivity. STEAM users are at disadvantage.
