Can you not recall a squad from a mission?

I sent a squad on a normal difficulty mission...

That is literally the hardest mission in my campaign so far. Absolutely ZERO indicator that the difficulty had spiked at some point, and it's atrociously aggravating.

I've replayed the misison 8 times at this point but because I thought it was a NORMAL difficulty mission, I brought a team with a mixture of low and high level characters. No matter what I do I cannot complete the mission.

So the game wins. I give up. The fact that there was no indicator of this difficulty spike has me super upset and annoyed with the game, but I'll just pull my squad out and send a higher level squad, right?

Except I can't? Am I missing something? I have zero options to abort the mission or anything else I see.

At this point I'm even willing to use a cheat code to bypass this mission because I'm so upset. Is there no way to get away from this mission?

Can’t you load a world map save before sending troops ? If not now you know always save the game before sending your army.
Oh if you can load even a one day before save turn the difficulty down you may succeed in. Good luck

No, you can't recall, but hoping we get a change to this in the future. But for the time being, make a safe save before sending out troops on any mission.

And have a chapter start save for if things go really south.

What mission was it? You can force fail the mission depending on type.

Yea, but then the whole team is injured and unusable for nearly a month....

I guess it was a "defend" mission, as those are a koke in regard of difficulty. Seems noone tested them...

I'm stuck on a purge corruption mission that brokenly sent my team to fight it without my approval after completing it once. I couldn't cancel the mission so I waited for my squad to go all the way back to the enemy stronghold. By the time they got back there, there was more corruption to eliminate so it forced me into a Defend Position mission, which are all stupidly hard compared to every other type. Ok, I figure this is the only way to keep going, I'll try it. 2 of my team are spawned into a building with no doors or windows.
All this could have been solved simply by the ability to cancel a mission before going on it.
