Last Fight is way too hard
Without spoiling, if you got there you know what I'm talking about - the last fight in the campaign, specifically the second phase. There is something odd going on because:

1) There's too many reinforcements of heavily armoured/high HP groups (we're talking about 5-7 armour and 70 HP). By the time you manage to whittle them down, the next two groups are upon you.

2) Too many super accurate bowman that out range everyone and they all have special arrows. Not to mention they never miss, even if you are behind cover with defensive mode. It's like they have a guaranteed 100% accuracy.

3) 2 of the ballistae are useless because they only point south and west and no enemies come from there. Also, I feel their dmg needs to be higher, they do 11 dmg when you have 70 HP enemies?

There are pitch barrels to the left, after you have dealt with the first group, destroy the barrels and make a tactical retreat towards the ballistas. I feel that they are a trap. It seems like a better idea to engage before you are outnumbered and then pull back and use pitch to slow the enemies. They do not like walking in pitch - fearing a trap.

There are more story missions after that fight.

I'm not sure if there's a difficulty setting difference, but if you go to engage the first group, by the time you reach it (takes 2-3 turns) 2 other groups spawn, one behind them and one on the far right, at the gate. The second group literally had a 1 turn spawn indicator after the very first turn so they joined on turn 3...

Also, if you don't guard the ballistae, they will go up there and use them against you. AI is actually smart...

I played through the campaign on Baron difficulty. My alchemist threw pitch on the ground once to slow down the group on the right. Probably the turn after they had used 3 AP to move.

I'm on the same fight you're on. I don't think it's the last battle, but the difficulty is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ absurd and zero fun. I thought I had a bad fight the other day in one of my posts but this one is 10x worse. Absolutely horribly balanced.

Isn't it great to have a nice challenge ? when i choose to have difficulty i definitely want some. Tactical turn based game shoulb be challenging and make use of brain to arrange and use skills at the good moment, and know how to place well your warriors.
I don't want to play a hit and run easy game.
in my opinion , If you are a TBS fan you should love challenge.

For this fight my advice is : leave the ballist place. Move your whole party toward the spawn of the first group and fight in the corner on the right to have all ennemy reinforcement approach to your contact. Take one or two alchmist with mass heal and you'll win that fight.

The problem with that strategy is with archers. They all have special arrows and big range - if you huddle in a corner, they'll AOE you with their special arrows. And there's many of them, at least 4 within first 2 waves... You don't have enough characters to keep them all busy and stop the melee chars at the same time.
