Is this too difficult on "normal" mode?
Self titled.

On the third mission (first assassination mission) a lot of enemy soldiers appears and I'm unable to beat the before I escape

YES! Same experience for me. Also, the OVERWATCH system is not functional. This is a no-go for tactical combat, especially if the enemies have lots of movement radius. Why is that overwatch issue not repaired before release....?

The only issue is between the keyboard and the chair I guess. :D

The overwatch is fine and perfectly functional. What is your problem with it ?

I think it is probably the easiest type of mission once you know what to do. You only need to kill the target, then evac. With fast ranged guys it is often a (short) walk in the park. With good setup and a bit of luck you can even evac before the first reinforcement arrive.

Overwatch??? The area of overwatch should be bigger like in Knights Tale, because the enemies have a lot of movement. You cannot build a protection line for companions. By the way: The mission "Assassination / Attentat" is balancing from hell for the second map mission, Enemies are too powerful and too great numbers.

Honestly, unless you're on one of the rampart maps where you only have a 2-4 square wide area to navigate on, enemies can almost always get around companions on overwatch because the overwatch area is so small. Overwatch with ranged weapons is also frustrating because if you are behind full cover it will block part of your overwatch range even though you could make a normal shot in the blocked area.

It's fine guys, just learn the game. Melee overwatch is meant for bottleneck, not open space.

You need to learn the game...I through it was hard at the first time, than I paid more attention to the mechanics and it was easy, just need to ambush more, and use consumables. I was able to do this mission with 2 characters

As soon as you can send 5 man squads, it´s quite easy indeed on normal! Just level your soldiers equally, so they are always on par with the enemy level and it´s no problem.

I played 200+ hours Knights Tale and I must say these kind of "try it 4 or 5 times" missions there occured in the mid game, not in the second mission on "normal" difficulty. This is no fun balancing!

playing on highest difficulty most assasination is 1-2 turn wipe and than run for the win.
maybe its depends on setup but i use 3 bow user alchemist > beast master > archer as starter pack with upgraded bow at start and 1 mele dude with halberd or 2h sword for aoe dmg , start fight with overwatch attack and than just kill all of enemies

It's not hard, it's broken.

Game's unbalanced, that's a fact.
Difficulty is artificial and based on "10 millions health point and 2 thousands enemies".

You can't released a game in this state and pretend it's finished.
I know it's nacon, the devs didn't have any money because of these crooks, but come on ... normal is harder than hard and also easier than normal. Read that and tell me it makes sense. :(

Would you mind to tell us what is so broken and unbalanced for you, and the "fact" espescially ? :)

I am playing on Normal. I bought the game yesterday. I am on the forth story mission, I believe. My men are hitting level 4 and I have a Level 2 keep.

Starting out was a little rough due to, no guide. In the 1990-2000's or so, given I bought a game like this, I may have been combing through the manual or strategy guide. Usually, there is some sort of guide in the steam guide section. There was no guide, and the game took a little bit to get used to. Once you get the flow of it, it is not too bad.

The tutorial didn't do a great job in walking you through some of the strategies and different types of thinking you may need for this game rather than other games in the genre.

In other games of this genre, DOTs are inefficient. You generally want to kill something ASAP, and not allow it to attack. The battles in this game last a little longer.

I have been starting battles with my alchemist throwing pitch, and then lighting the enemy on fire. DOT's resolve at the beginning of the turn, so if you stalk them, you can almost ignore an enemy and allow them to tick.

Having weapons, like maces, that break armor or ignore armor is worthwhile.
