It's a fraction of the budget and talent woke Wartales with a central base mechanic like darkest dungeon

He means women are allowed to be knights. And that's it.
Much ado about nothing.

Anyway its very much XCom inspired. I'd say try the demo, but I think they took it down since it was an older build.

Why be mad about women in an XCOM-like game?
Who else am I supposed to mod big booba on to?

Does it have procedurally generated missions like XCOM or are the missions static and linear?

I'm not too deep into it yet but it seems to have both. Main story missions and random generated missions you can do between.

The random ones seem to have time limits on availability, the story ones do not. I don't think there's a penalty for not doing a random one. And you can take as long as you want for the story ones.

That said, its too soon for me to tell how much variety there is on the random ones.

The time limit is only on the random instance. If you let it pass more will be generated. The random ones can get modifiers and even drop unique weapons so its worth farming them. You probably want to do so anyway to get enough materials to upgrade the Great Hall to the next level to unlock the 5th companion slot to bring into battle.
