My first reason to play was Mili’s music. Kinda skeptical at first since it’s my first metroidvania, but ended up 100% the game. Such a beautiful, fun gameplay, and I really loved the story all the way through.

Very good and enjoyable Metroidvania, with very classic game structure, great level design and fast, responsive combat system. A bit on the easy side if you're used to action games but the difficulty can be incremented with optional modifiers once you've finished the game if you want to try an extra challenge. For me, the difficulty hit the perfect sweet spot, neither too punishing nor brain-dead, and I loved it.

Artistically the game is very solid, featuring some very cool designs as well as a delicate, melancholic soundtrack that gently accompanies the journey providing a stark but pleasant contrast with the grim visuals. The composition style sorta reminded me of a mixture between the Castlevania and Nier scores, which says something good I believe. The story is not particularly original, drawing heavily from your typical Souls-like, "everything has gone to hell" kind of scenario, but it's interesting enough and is presented in style so it's a pass.

Overall, a definite recommendation for everyone who likes the genre.
