Depending on the completeness of the cooking gauge, the scoring can be adjusted as so:
0-50%: 0.5x penalty
50-80%: 0.7x penalty
80-100%: 1.0x, no penalty

Yeah, the cooking minigame got 'fixed', in so much as you're now entirely at the mercy of RN-Jesus. But to answer the real question, yes, as VertVentus said, the cooking meter matters massively.

Eh, honestly it's not really a 'noob patch'. They fixed something that was objectively bugged. Just so happens that the intentional version of the minigame wasn't particularly well designed, and so the 'bugged' version actually worked a bit better.

Yeah, especially when you've got some S-level eggfoots that lose to RNG. Realic's got a pretty good thread with a lot of tips here.

Wait until you can buy premium feed. Buy three-star eggs until you have four B-Rank eggs. Race them and breed them up until you have an S-Rank egg for the last races (the red-star races.) Split your stats 500/1000/1000/500 (because the hard cap is 3000) and save before the red-star races, because it'll come down to luck, and savescumming will save you time/effort breeding another S-Rank.

More attempts isn't harder, it's just more RNG. I've gotten 28 vs 3 were the opposing chef scored almost no points at all. You can easily pass this trial with enough attempts.
