Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Am I wrong about how to find the Wall-Eyed Breem?
It seems like finding it is just a matter of fishing constantly until RNG smiles upon you? That or it doesn't show up until shockingly later than the guy who wants it appears. I wouldn't mind so much if the fishing mini-game wasn't so incredibly boring, and not having this recruit wasn't locking town upgrades that I actually have the ability to make if they weren't locked behind this garbage mini-game.

If you're fishing in the northern section of the Coastal Cave (right behind a chest), then it's just a matter of the Wall-Eyed Breem showing up. I had to go back a 2nd time for mine after emptying the fishing hole once, it may take a few tries.
It's just RNG. The forced mini-games in EC are the worst part of the game, by far.

It is all about RNG. In my first game, I got the Wall-Eyed Breem outside of the cave after fishing for dozen of minutes or so.

In my current game, I spent around 1hr at the fishing spot outside the cave, no Wall-Eyed Breem. (The 1hr including the waiting time for respawn which I supposed to be around 2~3min, but my actual wait time maybe longer since I don't keep counting and only check back once a while) Then I go to the fishing spot inside the cave (which read some guides claiming to have a better chance) to fish for another hour, still no Wall-Eyed Breem. Come out of the cave to fish outside again and finally gotten that damn fish within 30m.

But my friend who go to fish inside the cave got the fish in his 3rd catch. Go figure. :(

I too agree that the recruitment of heroes are best not based on an RNG system. It kind of reminded me of first Suikoden game which I was so bad at the dice games that it take me many many RL days to finally win enough potch in a match to recruit Gaspar. Though skill-based mini-games can be a problem for some too, like in EC I also took some times to finally win the race to recruit Scarlet since I tend to sux in such games. :(
It took me HOURS to get one... and my friend who also plays managed to get one the first time.
I got a ton of those. :( Not saying it to be rude, but that's not a rare fish by any means.

I think fishing is another thing tied to FPS. On the PS5 it feels very smooth and not bad at all. Are you all missing catches?

This fish isn't even rare. When I watch videos of fishing from some of you on Steam it seems like your exclamation points are going away very fast.

Fishing in this game, it's just way too basic.
Mh, yeah. The only reason it's a "minigame" at all is because you can technically fail at it. It's just the same as Animal Crossing fishing, with the one caveat being that AC's fish actually have different values, so pulling up different fish actually meant something.
They should have used the same fishing system as Rising.
Okay seriously f*ck this thing. I don't know if I've ever been this infuriated by a sidequest in a game in my entire life.

Not only does it not show up every time, but I'm pretty sure when it DOES show up it's programmed to always be the last to bite, so you have to wait like 5 minutes while you pull everything else up first.

Then when it does bite the window seems to last a fraction of a second, and if there's ANY lag on the display (such as a PS5 running on a 4K TV is guaranteed to have) I'm pretty sure catching this f*cking thing is actually impossible.

It's enough to make me want to quit playing the game right now. If 100%ing it, or even getting any town upgrades beyond that guy who wants the Wall-Eyed Breem, is actually impossible then there's no freaking point to any of this. F*ck this game.

I think you found the problem, unironically, sure do wish there was any complexity to the fishing other than reaction time though
My PS5 running on a 4k TV was just fine with fishing.

I missed the fact that this was about recruiting the character. OP is probably fishing in the cave instead of outside of it in the right location.

These aren't rare fish. It took me a couple "clears" of the pool to get it, sure, but it wasn't that bad.

Just wait until you have to find the really rare fish if you're going for the trophy.

But, yea, it usually does only show up at the end. You get used to the silhouettes and which one can be which fish. I think only the rare rune fish is a small silhouette.

Inside the cave has a shorter pull window I think because you don't have a better fishing rod. You get better rods as you upgrade your castle. Not a lot of people even notice you get better rods.

If you're outside, it's pretty normal.

That's what I'm assuming anyways based on my gameplay.

Yeah, sorry, tvs and connections can vary, it's also a shame that "failing" to catch the fish you obviously don't want doesn't save much time since the failure animation is so long, but I guess you could shave off a minute, aaaand then probably accidentally scare off the one you're after, never mind. This game expects you to have a lot of patience overall, especially in minigames.
The weird thing is, I think the "small window" fish you're seeing isn't even the Wall-Eyed Bream- I'm pretty sure there's another fish in that same cave pool that's meant to be caught later, because I ran into a similar issue while trying to catch my Bream (but I did actually catch mine in that pool, before upgrading the rod.)

Also, based on what people are saying here, I guess there's a 2nd fishing spot outside the cave that I just missed entirely where the Bream can be caught.
I'm making assumptions, but it sounds like they are fishing inside the cave and catching the rare fish and getting small catch windows.

The fish for the recruiting isn't rare. There are indeed multiple locations it can be caught, but if you're going for the recruit when they are first available the best spot is outside of the cave.

It's not guaranteed to be in the pool, but the pool refreshes after 10 minutes.

Alligator Pirarucu only appears in one spot and it took like 2 hours of spawning time to finally get it.
