Revert the cooking fix
It's unbearable, slow, still doesn't make any sense and now the "bug" dishes combos auto-win doesn't work anymore and you tell me I should spent HOURS against DOZENS of opponents in a UNFAIR minigame like this ?
Revert this nonsense, let us win easy on your st*p*d minigame.

I found this on another topic here dealing with the cooking mini game.
https://www.reddit.com/r/EiyudenChronicle/comments/1cmbmis/cookoff_calculator/
Using that calculator I have managed to beat every opponent on the first try.

I know this might not be a satisfactory answer, but the divination room does reveal everyone's favorite food specifically for the cooking game.

The cooking game is garbage for an even bigger reason, the lack of customization.

In Suikoden II if one judge liked vegetables and one judge liked spicy food, you could make a vegetable recipe and add Red Pepper to make it spicy and impress both judges.

This game, chocolate cake is chocolate cake is chocolate cake and you better hope you get judges that like the same thing cause it's all RNG. You have no real control to combat bad RNG.

It's such a bad system.

wait they removed the omolet and coconut milk win strat?

Have to say the cooking game in EC maybe one of the worst mini-game in not just EC, but also among the Suikoden games. :(

Anyway, I find that even after the supposed bug fix patch I am still ever to win even the robo chef (but close) with a decent chance using the following combo :

Appetizer - Omelette

Main - Copy your opponent dish

Dessert - Coconut Water

Yeah, and removed the item dup glitch too

I hate that they removed both of these things. There is no reason to make a single player game more annoying for players who want to cheese the system. Players who don't, won't, and players who do no longer can. Why? Who does this help?

To be fair, multiple people have been asking them to fix the cooking bug in here, even asking it on their official X's page too from the very first day the game got released. Some people do want it to be fixed and they do get helped with this fix. So don't assume nobody got helped with this.

Also, during that time, none of you guys asking them to keep the bug because you want the easy win in cooking game. How could they know some people would disagree with them fixing it if none of you say anything? By mind reading?

But tbh, even if you guys say anything, the bug would get fixed sooner or later, especially when multiple people have been asking to get it fix. Its a bug after all, not a feature.

why jus WHY would you change the cooking mini game it being easy is a good thing as its story is what is fun

the mini game its self being easy to cheese was a GOOD thing

It's positive that they fixed the bug. It was clearly stupid that the final chefs were getting lower and lower scores than the earlier ones. The final chef was getting 12s-15s the whole time, there was no way they could win.

However, from what I gather, the underlying problem of the minigame, is now amplified. It's basically RNG with no realistc way to counter it.
The minigame needed more than just a bug fix, it needed the addition of a control variable by the player to counter RNG.

For example, they could have allowed both you and the opponent to choose at least 1 of the judges (2 would be even better). The opponents would pick the judges that favor their dishes, and you could counter it by picking judges that hate those dishes and instead prefer the ones you prepare.

See, that singular modification would have actually just made the cooking minigame brilliant, instead of the absolute slog of RNG it is currently.

You do have to look at it from the perspective of "someone playing this game who doesn't want to look up guides," also. The appetizer bug was incredibly unintuitive to anybody playing the game blind; they say things like "pay attention to your troops' favorite dishes" (which also gives you a reason to check on them from M'baba's menu) and "there's an appetizer, main dish, and dessert, so plan accordingly," but they didn't really matter.

For anyone who wants to "revert" the fix to an easy solution they looked up in the first place; there's been a calculator for figuring out the winning dish, why not just use that?

Well for one, not every person is like you who likes everything to be easy and 2nd and quite the serious question, what is even remotely hard in this game?
