Card Battle Trophy is too much man. It's worse than a Final Fantasy game.
Please give people a fast forward option.

There are 128 Card Battles.

Each one takes over 3 minutes. Closer to 4 if you account for the fact that we aren't machines and there are 128 of them so you'll have to add in some padding.

That's 512 minutes or 8.5 hours.

And that's if you don't get unlucky and lose a few.

It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous and it's boring. After I got all the cards, excluding the battle rewards, it's just the same strat over and over. I didn't even lose against the S ranks. I've had some other ranks pull out a victory from unlucky draws, but only once or twice.

The eggfoot races were long too. Nothing compared to this, but they were pretty long.

And I've got to go through a guide line by line to find all the chests... and I've got to manually figure out which rune I'm missing because apparently going through the full Hero Trials and every shop in the game wasn't enough. I'm hoping the one rune I need is in a chest I missed. I missed 5 of them.

And then I got to do the fish.

And then I got to do the Shi'arc Expert race. Which is a huge difficulty spike because I one shot the other ones.

Worst platinum ever.

You don't seem to understand what an achievement is. Frankly, they should be way harder to get in general. What's the point of lazily getting something that everyone else gets lazily. Great, everyone has 100% Achievements on every game, yay...

You don't seem to get it. The only good argument for trophy/achievement hunting is that it shows content that would otherwise be missed. Making people grind for 8.5 hours MINIMUM is not fun and is not showing people content they would otherwise miss in a normal play through. Gaming is meant to be fun.

If you put something, even a trophy, in a game that is excessively unfun I will complain about it even when people with weird opinions on the internet say I shouldn't.

I only got 6 or 7 more characters to go for that achievement, but yea it a bit much.

I would rather everyone have 100% on every game that crap like 9 hours of a really slow paced cards minigame.

I wish 1,000 hours of a really slow paced cards minigame upon you!

Yeah, the card achievement is one of the ones that keeps me from looking at this as a "I would like to 100% this" game.

I've 100% games like Hades and Elden Ring (and Disco Elysium before they added the camera achievements) which are all games that require replaying them, so I wouldn't even mind going back through the entire game in NG+ if it meant achievement hunting; but 128 Card Battles is waaaaaay too stagnant of an activity for how long it'd take.

And I say that as someone who likes the card game, but you kinda' get all you "need" out of it after 10-15 battles. Roughly 110 more, just for the achievement? Doesn't feel worth it.

I don't mind it so much. I'm alternating playing card games for the achievement with checking Eltisweiss for the Rising theater script (which I know I can save, check, and reload if its not there, but why do that when I can also work on cards?).

If I get very bored with the cards, I work on the 1,000,000 Baqua from the Trading Post achievement, or the Fishing achievement. Or hunting down Beigoma I don't have yet.

Alternating between the achievements keeps them from becoming too mind-numbingly tedious.
Drusain May 16, 2024 @ 8:26pm
Yeah I've been alternating minigames too. I think that's the best way to get through them. Though it's possible I'll get every achievement except for the racing game because I'm getting really sick of trying to beat that last race with the controls they want me to use to play it. I'm getting really worried that that's the one that's going to stop me from getting a plat on this game.

Cards and eggfoots I listened to podcasts while doing them.

But of course, obviously there's no one making you 100% minigame progress.

But to say this is the worst plat ever? Come on now.

The last track took me a few times, but even if you miss a couple of the boost pads, it comes down to just figuring out where to use the Extra Boost to close the distance between you and the next boost pad. There's maybe two or three really sharp turns where you have to slow down on purpose to reorient yourself, and that's when you use the Extra Boost to get your speed back.

Right, I like the card game too and I'm not a fan of a lot of JRPG card minigames (such as Triple Triad to cite the most popular example).
Shiro May 16, 2024 @ 8:57pm
Did someone say Triple Triad?

I think that's one of the thing's missing from EC's card game. A catchy song.

I don't believe it has one does it?

Finished the card games, and Beigoma, probably do eggfoot tomorrow or rather after I go to bed.
Love it. Reminds me of the time when I'd spend two to three hours a day just playing MTG.

To say that you lived a 100 years is an achievement itself, so why not this one then?

But it's increasing the time spent doing that because it's inefficient. And it already takes so long efficiently.

It doesn't stand out, but I watched a TV show or my favorite streamer duo while playing it.

MTG has a lot more variation though.

I have the plat in every Final Fantasy game you can get. Pixel Remasters for 1-6, FF7, FF8, FF9, FFX and companions, FFX15, FF7Remake, Half-way through Rebirth, and Halfway through 16. Also pretty far into 14, but that's an MMO.

This is worse than any of them. FF2 or FF3 is maybe worse in the non-Pixel Remaster version on Steam, but I don't think that would take 8.5 hours either and the achievement I'm thinking of that requires you to max out all the jobs can be done while playing the game for a lot of it.
