Drop rates and Mariette.

So I've arrived at Euchrisse and experiencing two problems.

1. I'm farming in the middle of Dappled Forest for the sparklestone and the Phantombirds are refusing to drop it. Farmed for 2 hours last and nothing. Is there an item or support party member later on that raises drop rates?

2. After going crazy not finding the stone, I tried to farm in the Southern Greatwood for Mariette's charm off the Bunny Archwitches. Before I met Mariette, I experienced the battle with the chest and opened it. Now, everytime I fight the battles with the witches, the battle starts with a preopened chest. Have I bugged the encounter by opening the chest prior to meeting Mariette?

Just talk to her again. That's how I got her to join. I might have had to leave the town first but not sure since I did it much later.

Later on you find a Lucky Badge which slightly increases dropt chance (then again later a Super Lucky Badge with even greater drop chance).
Don't remember at which part you do, but it should be soon.

The Lucky Badge is in the Seaside Cavern. Enemies are a bit tough when you first get there, but it's manageable (though you also can get overleveled for a while)

Isn't the charm inside the chest? Check your rare items inventory you probably already have it.

Turns out it was! Even though I opened the chest prior to meeting Mariette and it only giving me gold, apparently it also gave me the charm without saying anything. Going to go report that bug now, but thank you for telling me to check inventory!
