Any tricks to getting special encounters to show up?
Currently in the postgame and trying to get the last missing enemies and chests.

According to guides, there should be an enemy called "Richie Cockatrice" in the Mountain Path Homeward as well as a battle encounter chest but I've been running around for half an hour and all I'm getting are Cockatrice Hatchlings.

WTF?

Richie Cockatrice is unique because you can only find it when it's being summoned as back-up by the Cockatrice Hatchling.

Get into a battle with one and then whittle down its HP without killing it or otherwise rendering it unable to act. Since you're likely way over-powered at this point, you might need to use a Runeshard or something (since their power doesn't seem to be tied by the user's magic stat) to do so, though I personally got away it by having Marisa use a Fire Rune's Fireball to deal around 45 damage with her at Level 60.

Regardless of how you go about it, once you've done a bit of of damage, don't act anymore and defend with everyone till the Cockatrice decides to call for Richie.

As for the chest, it's probably the Cockatrice Egg from Isha's recruitment quest.

Being pretty early on, is Cockatrice (Adult) different from Richie. I mean, it seems obvious, I just want to make sure
