When did "fans" of jrpgs become such babies?
Poor translations used to be celebrated, enjoyed and laughed at. We got such gems as "Son of a submariner" and "Guy speak beaver" or like....all of ff7 script tbh. If you are that obsessed with the purity of the translation then stop being lazy and learn the language. I promise you, that would be far more appreciated by the devs than any of your politically brain washed takes you spout on here.

I didn't back this to be a beta tester. I waited for full release. Sadly got a bad surprise. Now I'm waiting some longer until the devs hopefully fix the localization.

I am not defending anyone, but to make this game, if I am not mistaken, there was also a campaign to raise funds on Kickstarter... Did some people play the beta without noticing anything?

The only real thing I remember people bringing up about the beta was the line about the golem.

I just did that part. I'm early on in the game. The moment I heard her say "You sure it's a 'he'?", I was like "Oh, that's what people are mad about" lol.

What makes you so certain it will be "fixed"?

I think they will settle down first, with the death of Master Murayama, there will be chaos in their studio, there is not only the location, there are also other small problems. As they write above this post, the fans are already working to fix it, so by their hand and the fans, the localisation will be fixed.

Boggles my mind why there are people actively opposing a BETTER localization...

I LOVED suikoden,, and eiyuden is its spiritual successor, the localization is so bad that i have to leave a negative review, my ONLY review in my years here in steam... in hopes that it may reach some ears and eventually a fix may be developed... and it's saddening to see people actively opposing something like that, i just want a core piece of my childhood to be presented in the manner it deserves.

Many people seem to reject the idea of improved localization solely because it was initially labeled as "woke." This initial labeling caused many to close their minds to any further criticism of the localization efforts.

This phenomenon isn't confined to just one political ideology; we see it occurring frequently among progressives, leftists, and occasionally among right-wingers as well.

Dunno what XIV has to do with what I said.

FFXIV also has localization changes.

Basically all of Urianger is one big gimmick that isn't there in japanese.
And? The game is massively inspired by European Medieval Fantasy and the way they speak fits the setting, i would never play FFXIV or XVI in Japanese because the localisation and English VA are so good.

It's a lot different than certain other JRPGs and Anime localisations where they've got characters throwing around modern internet slang and memes.

Well the guy in charge of the localisation has stated in text that his goal is to remove or change anything that doesn't fit his ideology.

Uh, when and where did that happen?

OK chud used to be an insult for gym bro's. When the hell did that co-opted in this idiotic war?

Probably when some influencer gym bro got called a chud and decided it must have been because he's right wing, and not cause he's a gym bro.

The first time I heard that word being used, it was a left winger using it against normal people who disagree with them.

First time I heard it was in Clerks 2 a decade and a half ago. Sooooooo.

Oh, and I've also never heard it used in the context being claimed here. Like, ever. I've only heard people who claim offense at it insisting it's something new and insulting.

I feel like the people who assume everyone knows what it supposedly means and is "meant" to mean" can't wrap their heads around the fact that not everyone are engaged in this little right wing vs left wing culture war they are a part of. I would consider myself apolitical. On top of that, if I ever go to Twitter it's because I'm following a link from somewhere and the only accounts I'd say I 'regularly' check are Amazing and Terrible Maps.
The word is clearly not something used by laypeople who aren't in this weird heated political debate.

Ever heard the phrase the grass is always greener on the other side?

I'm pretty sure a lot of it is Japan just loving puns and the English version is full of ones that weren't there in Japanese.
