I know the title sounds dumb but that Sweet Baby detector curator said they are affiliated with this game, is that even true? Sure some people have said certain aspects of the localization aren't as good as they "should" be but does that mean Sweet Baby was even involved? I'm just confused about the whole thing.

Edit: My bad, may not be SBI but it's one of the localizers on the team that's pushing the usual DEI stuff right now.

I haven't seen anything so far that would suggest direct SBI involvement. Just a localiser on the credits who openly talked about very similar talking points as SBI. Also the comparison of the original vs the translation has shown instances of the usual slang and language used by other unpopular localisers before who are known to alter the original works because they don't like something about it or just think they can do a better job than the authors.

The reason it ended up on the SBI list is probably because the curator is in the process to make it a "woke detected" list, rather than just SBI.

Not with Sweet Baby Inc. directly, but the localizer has apparently a track record of changing translations.
Check the website deidetected.com (run by the same guy that runs SBIdetected curator, just expanded beyond the scope of just SBI). The SBIdetected curator also explicitly states that he detected DEI, not SBI. I guess you can't change your Curator name.

I think it's more DEI related, even says on their comment next to the titled curator description. Unfortunately, the Japanese developers didn't cross reference the team working on the localization. So they added in a bunch of political activist comments, which were never in the original Japanese script. They also have been on ResetEra I believe for years, many of them.

The curator does not suggest that SBI is involved with the game. Rather it's "DEI". Meaning the curator thinks they should be treated the same. Up to you how you want to handle that knowledge.

There's already videos being posted on Youtube going through their past works in translation projects. Someone even dug into their username back to ResetEra.

This DEI detected stuff is the dumbest ♥♥♥♥ I've seen on the steam forums and I've been using the platform since 2004.

As far as I know, SBI itself wasn't involved in this.
However the "localizer" vandalized the original script inserting his own political lingo and "jokes". People also found out he's a known activist frequenting garbage websites like ResetEra.

Thanks for the responses. There's another thread with examples of not so great translation choices. The only thing remotely recognizable as "DEI" is that "Are you sure it's a him?" remark. I think it's a stretch to say it was a "did you assume my gender" translation IMO. Is there another example that I'm just missing? I'm not discounting it, I just haven't seen any DEI references outside of this weak example.

Hey I remember you from another thread, even after the twitter leaks of comparison screenshots, you kept along saying the same thing. Was this a bait topic to try and pull the shade away from the curator unfairly? Trying to make them look like they were tagging more titles than SBI were actually in? Did you read the description on the side.. or just ignored that factor?

Nope, not trying to discredit anybody. I just didn't know if people were using SBI and DEI interchangeably so I asked. I'm 100% acknowledging that the localization is NOT a 1:1 translation, so I'm not sure what you mean by "you kept along saying the same thing". I'm just personally NOT seeing the DEI in the game in the examples. It is NOT a 1:1 translation, and people can hate it for that. Some of the choices are stupid. I'm just personally not seeing the DEI involved. Maybe I'm missing something. As for the curator's page, I actually don't see anything on their page about their mission. There is a link though. I also want to point out that the curator's about page just says "A tracker for games involved with Sweet Baby Inc.". Maybe I'm looking at the wrong curator?
