Love it so far, but the Nerthus battle was annoying. xD
Gimmicks are fine, but I had the worst RNG in that battle even though it was a 50/50. Unless the boss showed signs of left or right and I missed it. I thought it would be a 4 or 5 hit max to win that battle, but it was 7 or 8 and I got it wrong 70% of the time. Hopefully that kind of gimmick isn't used again. (Battle to recruit Mellore using the 2 Grimoire books)

It's just gimmick. u can win that win by ignore it 100% just beat the boss normally.

I agree with you on it being annoying. I had to do it three times as I kept running out of health items while fighting it as I continued to try and guess where it was gonna be and got it wrong even more than 70% of the time. On the third try I just ignored the gimmick and took all the hits. It was incredibly infuriating as there was no way to tell where it was gonna be. Really woulda liked some kind of indicator if the player looked close to tell where it would move to instead of that. Have to put the game down for a while after that fight.

Have just beaten it.
Hard mode with all options on at lvl 9.
You need to use the Hammer or else no light.
Even with Hammer you need some luck.
7 trys in the last one the annoying magical girl was the lone survivor.
I will not try it again to get some more folks the 900 EP srew that.

Is that the boss from the demo?
Yeah I thought it was obnoxiously bad then also. Hate pure RNG fights :/

He looks in the direction he's moving to before he jumps (I think).

In case anyone wants to test that.

Once I sussed that out, I hit him with the book every turn with ease. But I'm happy to concede I'm extremely lucky if anyone can test it to show otherwise?

I went and rewatched my recorded footage and he doesn't seem to look in any direction. Maybe you got extremely lucky. Unless it's so super subtle or I'm blind. xD

Somehow my hammer never even hit once for a 50-50 chance...i think i am on my 8th turn now. lol

I went roughly 20+ rounds, having to burn through all my healing items and missed every single one except the last 4 in row. I alternated a bunch at the beginning and then went left 8 times in a row, and then alternated a bunch more until finally just stuck to the right side. Worst 50/50 rng I have ever seen.
Maniac Apr 23, 2024 @ 2:29pm
Yea the RNG is not random at all, i went 5 times left and missed, then i tried right and of course that time he went left so im sure its a trap so you waste turns on that ♥♥♥♥

I wonder if some mathematician will work out whether it's better to just ignore the gimmick altogether and focus fire on the boss in the long run :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

I assumed the SFX made a sound which indicated which side it would come up on. I turned SFX to 0 because I hate the ping after EVERY SINGLE TEXT BOX.

Everytime you miss Mellore says "Listen to the whispers of justice." I assumed something in SFX was making a sound. But I got through it on the first try with 5 people. I did get about half the hits.

I feel like this post is going to be filled by the 1% that missed 6 times in a row. Personally I experienced that. Could not find a tell that removed the RNG part of the gimmick. Really though, considering success is 150 dmg + stun chance, it is optimal to always go for it, expected dmg is 75 which should be higher than what at least 1 party member can do. Still managed to win on my first try, though I did burn through a lot of healing items.

First try 80% miss, 2nd try i got 100% by using the Magical girl each time for the gimmick mechanic.

Maybe I was very lucky or only the Magical Girl is the answer.
Kain Apr 25, 2024 @ 8:07am
I missed a lot even when leaving magical girl to do her magical job.

For me it was like twice/thrice on the same side before it moves to the other. However sometimes he stays on the same side four times and my gambler's fallacy kicks in.

I just stuck to 1 side. If it's 50/50 anyway then there's no skill to it or reason to deviate. anyway.

I just had Francesca spamming it every turn since she's not exactly a high damage dealer in the first place and had nothing to do/no-one to heal most of the fight anyway.

Got more successful hits than not, luckily enough.
Still a pretty rubbish gimmick IMO :conwayshrug:
