How do you recruit one of the characters (spoilers, maybe)?

Specifically the guardian who mastered the art of war. He is supposedly in Yarnaan, meditates on the second floor, but it is impossible to interact with him.

I think you're talking about two different characters? The art of war guardian is talking about Galladur who can be found in the proving grounds and the dude on the second floor of Yarnaaan is Goldsmid who I think requires someone with a certain amount of strength/power/whatever to recruit him.

Oh, you find him in the proving grounds later. I didn't even know he was there at that time.

What he said, though he's hiding in plain sight a bit. Just before the whole thing that rotates the rooms, hang a left. But before you go through the door, go down, and he's right there. He's very easy to miss if you don't know where to look.

South west of the main hall (just below the entrance to the left exit) of proving ground where you operate the terminal to rotate the room. He is camouflaged with the grass.

He might also not be there yet - I got the tip for his location a few story beats before I could actually recruit him.

Not sure if Galladur is bugged or there some hidden conditions required for him to appear earlier (Castle Level? Numbers of recruited heroes? Need to speak to or recruit someone in advance? etc) .

I read a lot of guides claiming that he will be available and recruitable during the Reunion chapter, but a few guides claimed otherwise that he only appear after the 2nd zombie attack event in Yaranna (Yaranna falls chapter), but in my first game (not the steam version) he only appeared in that spot of the proving ground dungeon near the end of the game during the Declaring Victory chapter. Never find him in that same spot before that despise checking many times in between the chapters.

In my current play through on the steam version, I also didn't find him in proving ground during the Reunion chapter. Will be checking again when I progress to the Yaranna falls chapter to see if he will be appearing during this phase as some guides had claimed.
