This is first for me so in this game you can jut press auto and they all do their stuff to beat enemy o.O So you can just auto pilot through this game xD ?

You can configure them to do x and not do y (only use normal attack, dont use magic for example)

By default the 'auto' just does normal attacks and with enough SP uses the SP attacks (no magic use)

You will be using it a lot on trash mobs, but you should not use it on bosses as a lot have gimmicks (hiding behind rocks etc) that you need to pay attention to in the fight

It's there to make your life easier

Game could use a x2/x3/x4 speed option for combat to help grind too

Classic Suikoden had this as well, and it's a great feature for random battles as Tankanidis notes. One thing I miss is all the characters attacking at the same time... it sped up the battles but also made them feel more active/epic. So hope to see that in updates or Eiyuden 2. Hopefully it's not an engine limitation or somesuch.

If you have leveled to the standard level in that zone, yes, just don't let them use any MP and item. So you can manually heal up the party after battle more efficiently.

I'm just over 50% through my 2nd playthrough and it's on Normal Difficulty and I grind a bit every shop if I can't afford to gear my people out.

But other than those caveats, I just use one hand to move my character around and do auto-battle. The entire run. Bosses and all.

And my auto-battle settings haven't been touched.

It wasn't as comprehensive in the Suikoden games. The characters will attack at the same time still in this game. It does feel more rare.

For some reason they built in a ton of delay in the battle menu, so I find myself using auto-battle just to save my own sanity. Seriously, why can't you just spam through commands if you want attack commands, or only need to adjust one or two party members.

Feels like there's a 0.8 second pause in all commands in the game

Would feel much more fluid and responsive if that was tightened up

I agree with using auto battle simply because manual inputs feel slow. It's frustrating though because I've just got to the point where I was able to give Nowa a Sleep Slash rune and I can't seem to get him to use it in auto because he will always use Swinging Slash instead. Does anyone know how to make a character prioritize a second active ability with the same damage type and SP cost?

I've actually not been using auto battle at all. I mean I did at first but manually I find it easier to manage what resources I save and what I want to use at any given time, rather than going in and re-configuring the behavior. But thats just me.

As others have said though you definitely do not want to use it on bosses.

I haven't configured mine at all. They do use resources though.

And I did run into a few snags with gimmicks, especially chests and bosses.

I set auto battle to not use consumables or magic and it will be just like classic Suikoden auto battle except your characters will use SP attacks. The MP attacks in this game are mostly trash tier until later on. You will want all your MP for healing or buffing/debuffing until then. There are hero combos that you might want to consider using instead of auto battle so don't forget that. I too wish the command and flow between each action was faster. Suikoden 1-2 fights were so much faster.

yeah my biggest gripe with the game is how performing every menu action is an absolute slog.

I've also noticed that anyone equipped with a magic rune that isn't a water rune will use all of their MP on magic attacks until they completely run out before they start using their weapons regardless of how you try to set them up.

I think I'm just going to try playing without auto battle but it's going to be slow...

It's not "regardless of how you try to set them up."

You can definitely set it up in Battle Plan to not use MP.

It's going to sound funny, but I while playing this game, I'm reminded of how much I liked the super simple auto battle mechanics In Lunar on the PS1 or the gambits on FFXII in comparison.
