Eiyuden 2
I know I am rushing, and I also know there is never any guarantee... but if I were to suggest for the next installment. Make the story darker? idk I am having a ton of fun with this game (hence 100+ hours gameplay), but I feel like even in the lows the characters are too optimistic and the depiction of the towns are cheery even after intense battles and occupations

I usually like darker stories too, but for now (only 2 hours in due to work) I am finding the light heartedness quite charming, maybe that will change. Also a sequel has been confirmed due to the success of their kickstarter and other behind the scenes funding (gamepass, epic store, etc).

They probably will. The most important thing that Eiyuden needed to do was to be as faithful as they could be to Suikoden, and I think it's been very successful in that goal. For the second game, they have a lot of options to be more creative and focused in their own IP. I look forward to seeing what they decide to do.

I am also very early on, and so far the game is painfully lighthearted compared to Suikoden (a magical girl? Really?)

I'm expecting the game will get at least a bit darker once the political themes really start to take off, and I'm not expecting berserk-level grimdark or anything like that, but I hope to never see anything as ridiculous as what I put in the spoiler tag ever again.

I think one other thing developers often don't pay enough attention to is voice acting. VA tends to magnify tone, so often things need to be more muted when compared to text if you want to keep the same sort of tonal window.

I don't want to influence your game play.... so if you want to know the answer to that I can message you away from the thread
