All these companies are pushing this woke garbage and the only repsone you'll ever get is the automated BS response to pretend they care.
Vote with your wallet for real change!
I applaud the effort though.
Yes, I'm on board.
Um, I think I left something at home. I'll come back to you later.
Eventually A.I will overrule any translator. Right now A.I is still at it's starting point when it comes to translations but eventually even A.I will evolve to understand nuances. Seeing as some of the people in the industry on the localizer side don't even know Japanese in general would make an A.I more suitable to understand that. Which makes it so laughable when they claim the naunce parts against A.U while not even speaking the language themselves and just winging it.
A.I is already being tried for major jobs and soon this will follow, the moment that happens I'll be buying anime games again. Because eventually with spoken Japanese you get the meaning of the text already without the westernization being pushed with long ass lines where there is barely any Japanese spoken.
Tagging you because of the discussion we're having in the other thread that's related.
HERE it works and is perfectly suitable.... and I didn't expect any more or less. This doesn't work for a live-chat though :)
And it would stop a lot of it.
Another step you could take is banning the actual trolls. The ones that are doing the definition of trolling and responding to all the complaints to get them to defend their complaints. That's trolling, by definition.
And you could set up a threads channel if you truly think things are getting disruptive. The threads would be each individual conversation going on.
But, you're saying they are fine to just ban people.
And that is why the discord is a toxic "Everyone has to be happy" place.
What it's really done is given bullies a place to bully. They know the game, they know they won't be punished, and they know who it's socially acceptable to bully.
Realistically though, you're not going to get one. Redoing all the localization and voice work is *way* too expensive to ever be feasible for something that, at least by some objective metric, is a serviceable translation. It may be incorrect and creatively-licensed, but it's not like we're looking at engrish here.
This is something that is going to require a fan translation to get any traction on. Hopefully they do a better job with the sequel, but given how a 505 CM seems to be handling the issue here (extrapolating a bit here as I've only seen them post in one thread), I fear they're taking the Disney approach of calling everyone who criticizes them haters and then wondering why their products aren't doing well.
Yup. Regardless of how impactful players view the localization as... Their whole job role entails dealing with words and the specificity of their meaning. I think it's pretty intentional what they did. They are paid to be accountable.
"Brigading" is not a term I would use towards your customer base either. It's not hard to guess what their views were like to begin with before they began translation.
