idk but I adore Yusuke. High damage, defense and speed, and looks like a Jojo character. If only he was M range. Plus; he's a cool desperado.

Garr's pretty good too, but slow. He's very tanky and decent damage~ least likely to die.

I've been having this problem where I cant make up my mind on the 6th character, somebody for the front row. I know its not permanent decision but I tend to like to keep my parties mostly the same jrpg habit I guess.

I settled on Sabine then they took her away from me. Tried oni since she seems more a main character but she's doing no damage. So I'm going back to Yusuke, that or Iugo I guess idk?

Iugo early game, then goes to Yusuke, but then you have Fran Power is off the chart also is nuts

Honestly just choose who you think is cool. There's a lot of characters all with their own stat growths, rune slots, appearance, personality, etc. The attendant slots enable you to pick a dream team and stick with it, resistant to the characters that need to be around for story purposes.

Now that I have a roster of about 15 characters I'm messing around with different party composition and the only one that feels stronger is Yusuke, being able to defend AND get a boost on the next attack make him super useful. Especially in boss battle since you'll have to defend their big attack from time to time and it's actually not a wasted turn for him. He got decent speed and defense so give him attack boost accessories and rune to do crazy damage.

Nowa and Lian together are also pretty useful because of their Hero combo attack that seems to have a high speed and good damage. It feels stronger than both of them attacking separately most of the time unless attacking weak enemies they could kill by themselves.

I've beaten the game with 100% of the characters. Yusuke and Iugo remain top-tiers units throughout the entire game. The only downside is that each get 3 open rune slots, but their higher stats offset this somewhat.

To maximize their damage:

1) Yusuke (Charge 2x + ATK buff = dead bosses)
2) Iugo (SP Conversion Power + 5 SP + Rune of Slash)

I also used Garr for about 80% of the game until you get better magic users (Momo, Isha) and the ultimate tank (Reyna). I'd suggest you keep Lian and Mio somewhat leveled up since they're used throughout the game in several fixed formations.

Fran is excellent, but her abysmal HP growth starts to hurt around mid-game. Oddly, her HP is above average for a mage around level 70+ and she was hitting harder than Garr for most of the time that I used her.

Mellore is a great hybrid character depending on whether you need someone with extra rune slots, magic attacks, back row, etc. That said, most character formations are viable, but these are the ones that stood out to me.

I've been using: Iugo for a tank, his taunt counter attack is great and his stats are some of the best. Yusuke is the best damage dealer so far. As Light ringer said, charge twice and then hit for nearly 10 times damage. I use Kuroto for his speed. If I need to get a heal off or a rez I leave it to him and he's got decent damage. Gieran for my main mage, his 20% MP reduction is great because MP isn't something you use often and he's got decent stats. My 6 is always changing I play around with that spot quite a bit.

hands down mio is strongest character in game, she is a female georg prime after she unlocks her 2nd rune, it has a chance to 1 shot anything, including bosses

Without SP though she's pretty useless, not tanky enough to take hits for an S range and her attack stat is absolutely pitiful, kills me inside because I wanna use her so badly, but not when Iugo is better than her in so many ways!

Yusuke/Iugo as most have mentioned, small shoutout to Kuroto though tbh, even on hard with ruby ring he can 1 shot a lot of backline trash and make life easier as well.

Is the OP nuts? Mio is pathetic. Im only level 31 and she does less damage than Fran or Magic Girl. And don;t give me that "she can one shot a boss" CAN being the operative word and since 90% of your attacks are just base attacks, I'd rather have someone that can hit harder than a wet noodle.

she has the highest strengh of the game with iugo (they both have 498 nat strengh at lvl 99) and she has one of the highest speed (speed is the stat to dodge so she dodge almost everything)

just play with who you like, the game is easy enough to clear with any party, at least on normal.

It's of less use for her STR, since Mio has low HP/DEF, and can be out of line, laying down more often than others.

Yusuke and Iugo are top tier damage dealers all the way to the end game and they have deep mana pools that let them act as back up casters if need be.

Francesca is passable but her low hp and low speed let her down in really hard encounters, especially if you don't have Falward to carry her, but if he's there's a world beater in terms of heals and dps. That said Koruto is hands down the best clutch healer early since his insane speed means he can pop off that heal ahead of everyone else.

More or less my early party was Iugo, Yusuku, Falward, Francesca and Koruto until the end of Euchrisse.

But mid-game, around Imperisarc, I switched out the latter three for Isha, Milana and Geiren, the former two have powerful AOE skills and the latter has a 20% discount on all spells so he can singlehandedly provide enough healing for the whole team with Isha as backup. Nowa is also pretty fast at this point so he can outsource a lot of casting to Rune Shards (Dark 1 & 2, Earth 1 and Wind 2 are very cost effective).

That said keep an eye on Mellore and Mio, they start out weak but get very powerful late game.
