True to the Suikoden games, the large characters are not good enough to be worth two slots.

I wish she was, I did pretty extensive testing and played a lot around with yume because I liked her design and kept telling me na it will be worth it soon enough, not even her exclusive skill is worthwhile. Even equally geared she doesn't really do more damage or is tankier or anything compared to other 1 slot chars. But if you wanna keep her because of how adorable she is I can recommend it.

I used her for a large amount of game and only stopped using her when I needed more damage to recruit another character.

She's very tanky and she has a great statline. Her available rune slots means she gets to be customized pretty strongly, and her only real weakness is her speed (which can be fixed through various other factors)
Her statline being great means she can use things like the elemental buffs to greater effect than most other party members which is where a lot of her boss damage comes from. I'd still be using her but I got another 2 party slot character I'd rather use and there's not enough space for 4 party slots to be eaten by two people.

Yume's only real edge seems to be her HP growth. She's the only character I've seen so far that hits 900 hp with no buffs and she has two ANY rune slots. So she's a really customizable meat bag.

I've a question about elemental buffs at this point, since you are promiting them beeing key for 2 slot chars, honestly I had very bad results with them. Like on a attack that deal 1k dmg 120 dmg or so is from that buff, sometimes even only 20, I don't know what determines their effectiveness really even when you use the weakness element. No idea what affects that. Can you enlighten me in that regard?

I just found out about Yume, or the lack of Yume, through my inability to recruit Faye. I was able to do all the Faye and B'Baba recruitment. Except B'Baba's third clue made no sense because I didn't have Yume. So when you find Faye on t he third floor, her dialog box is basically bugged and blank and you can't do anything.

I wonder if I did too much recruiting before hitting the next story beat. I not sure when or if I would have thought to re traverse that desert area since the game already dedicated a side quest with the magic girl. I guess she said something about her grandma. I totally blanked out on that clue.

I'm running hard mode, no items in combat, no running from combat and so far I have decided I will use whoever looks cool because the game really isn't hard unless you go double mp/sp use and no combat baqua as well as hard mode imo. Don't let stats or meta dictate your run if it isn't a hyper difficulty run imo.

She's not even good enough to be worth a single slot, let alone 2. Her stats are pretty bad. Compare her stats to characters like Iugo, or Kogen, which you also get early on.

Iugo, Kogen, main, Falward, Francesca, Kuroto is what I used early on. Falward and Francesca have a heal + buff hero attack that's good for bosses. There just isn't a slot for Yume at any point, unless you're intentionally trying to gimp your group.

Her stats are honestly pretty bad for a character that takes 2 slots.

And elemental buffs aren't any better on Yume than with any other character.

Like I said above, just compare her stats to Iugo, or Kogen. There's plenty of other solid characters I can put in on the front row who got better stats than Yume. Iugo and Kogen are good examples, because you get them early.

She also doesn't have amazing HP growth as a poster above alleged.
