No this was part of KS all DLC was voted on by backers, and known as it would be DLC, They are side stories and not needed to complete the game. So blame the backers, not R&B. also they can continue to build the world in DLC/expansion. till a sequel comes out, which they're already working towards as he left for R&B to make 2 sequels
So it's both backers who weren't kicking in funds until offering free story content, and R&B for offering DLCs as stretch goals so they could get extra funds for development for the game. I hope that makes sense.
THIS is the information that needs to be all over the place. Random side stories that offer some fleshing out to the story but are skippable is fine. I can't say that sounds like it is worth $25, but it also sounds like I'm not missing anything important if I skip over it, which was my main concern, that this was key story that was being offered as DLC instead of part of the main game.
Sorry, just to be 100% sure, the side stories seem to be prequels or expanded stories about the protagonists, would those be played outside of the main campaign? i.e. like some sort of mini-campaigns?
I ask because I would never have time to play the game a second time if to access those mini-stories I have to restart the game.
The Marisa one is straight up labeled as a prequel, the Markus/Nowa/Carrie one seems like a side story completely separate from whatever's going on in the story but related to lore hinted at by some characters, the Seign one, I'm not entirely sure. The description is really vague, maybe a sequel?
They are being very shady and some of the stretch goals were phoned in.
Shady examples, pre-order bonuses for non-backers and not backers. No explanation on how backers are going to get season pass content or if we're getting the bonus content in the season pass. The terrible implementation of many of the stretch goals like cooking battle.
This is highway robbery. The game is already overpriced and littered with bugs and they want to now milk you for every cent for additional garbage.
