New Game Plus better than expected (mild spoilers)
typically in Suikoden games, when you go into NG+ you have to re-recruit everyone, but that is not the case here. As soon as you're able to change your party in Eltisweiss at the beginning of the game, all the characters you recruited on the first playthrough are there, which blessedly means you do NOT have to suffer through hours of Beigoma and Cooking Battles to get Reid and Celia again!! The thought of re-recruiting those two characters were making me dread playing through the game again so that's a big win

all your items and runes are still in Sumire's storage too! I haven't unlocked the HQ on NG+ yet though so I'm not sure what all is retained there, and whether or not you'll still have to "recruit" certain people to access all the shops and stuff again.

would recommend making sure Nowa has the Dash Boots equipped in your clear game save so that you can sprint through the prologue faster on NG+, otherwise you'll have to wait until you get to Eltisweiss to pull the boots out of storage and/or throw Aire in the party.

Actually you can even do it in the first town, just go change it at the inn.

Though yeah you can't talk to Sumire until Estelweiss.

When you start the NG+ you can set the difficulty just as if you were starting anew, but you still can't change it or add handicaps later.

If you carry everything over, does the game scale to that? Like Nowa is level 99, will there even be any challenge found in the game?

The game is exactly the same. Including recruiting quests, having to redo the castle etc.

That's something we suggested in the server, I was strongly passionate about it with the Hard Mode being implemented. I'm really glad people are having fun with it!

A'yup! Having all characters pre-recruited is something I really wanted from a new game + for Suikoden 1-5. So happy that it is provided by default in EC. I had to make my own New Game + For suikoden 1+2 out of gameshark codes, and it was buggy as heck.

If only they allowed to carry over all the other grindy stuff....(cards, beigoma, eggfoots, recipes). I mean, who wants to do all that stuff, easily worth a couple dozen hours, each time they do an NG+?

LOL that would be hilarious to have Seign on your team when escaping from Eltisweiss.

Thanks. I guess I can go character recruit guide free on my first play :)

It's great not needing to recruit everyone again, I just wish there was an option to reset the character levels while retaining the items, at present it's either both options or neither.

Do Beigomas carry over?

I'm soft-locked out of some achievements because I can't get back into the final dungeon in post game.

I don't mind trying it in NG+ as long as I don't have to collect them all again

They do not. The only key item you keep is Carrie's Ring.

Yikes, guess I'm not going to bother achievement chasing then

Out of all the achievements, this one actually isn't bad at all. You'll eventually get someone that boosts the beigoma drop rate. You'll also get some other things that make backtracking very easy.

There are much worse achievements, but this isn't one of them. And once you get into Beigoma and the upper matches, it does get pretty skilled based.
