Wow the Sunstone Ring is SO good!
Is it just me or is the Sunstone Ring OP AF? It gives the wearer an Armor Rating of C. I haven;t tested ti yet but wouldn't the Armor Rune make that a B, if not A? Hot damn!!!!

If you slap it on someone who already has a shield and rune they go up to S armor rating :D

O.O

They give great defense potential but it's better to use items to boost XP, item drop and money drop. There's 6 items of those, 1 for each character.

Interesting note...

I am still midway through, but noticed this as well! I have Reyna with Sunstone + Firefly tanking the heck out of everyone, taking 0-5 damage, and also dealing solid Counters.

Does EXP boost really make that much of a difference? In Suikoden, scaling was such that characters leveled very quickly as long as fighting a high enough level enemy... so not a lot of EXP grinding per se. Eiyuden seemed much the same so far...

Someone could have 40 armor, and someone else could have 60, they would both display C.

It doesn't reduce a lot. It's a straight damage reduction towards the end of the formula. iirc it's armor/10. It's basically only really effective against multi-hit attacks, and earlier game, as armor clearly doesn't scale as well as damage per hit.
The most you can get is 70 Primordial Mail + 150 League/Primordial Shield + 150 Sunstone Bangle = 370 armor = -37 physical damage reduction. Rune of Armor would give you 50% more.
Since damage calculations are linear, PWR - PD, armor won't help frail mages or bulky melee that much, so it's kind of a joke.

Eiyuden has the same exact EXP formula as Suikoden 2,

https://eiyuden.wiki.gg/wiki/Experience_points
and there's 2 ways to get to Lv. 99.
  • In the Greatwood before Treefolk Village, farm 65/76 Rabbit Bear infinite spawns at Lv. 21/22 with a full party and the Growth Badge's +20%.
  • Mysterious Room underneath your castle has Lv. 60 ~ 90 enemies, use smaller underleveled parties and win against high enemy quantity.
That's where the Growth Badge, EXP +100% support character Yulin lategame, and the EXP +100% accessory in the final dungeon shine, to jump to Lv. 99 than slogging through those final levels at a few EXP per kill.
Baqua you'll need a lot for weapon upgrades.
Item drop rate is additive, +10% and +50%, for items that sell for more baqua and getting showered in 3*+ runes, runeshards, or healing items.

So it's armor value /10 for the reduction? No wonder it felt like it never did anything of value.
