What is the point of an Autosave system that doesn't save after major boss battles?
I just lost the entire mine boss victory because the stupid game locked up as I was trying to reconfigure my runes, and the last autosave is from over an hour ago. Why does this game even have autosave if it never autosaves progress?

This is for the PS5 version, for the record.

auto save trigger the moment you enter a place or exit that place into the open world.
On top of that every mini boss and big boss fight always have a save point. Even after you defeated a boss it is always best to save.

I agree that the autosave is terrible, however if you don't manual save, that's on you, not the game.

its not the best autosave but it works and i often find my self relying on it as is for save scumming

Even the most unstable PS1 games didn't tend to randomly lock up while going through a shop menu, let alone modern games.

Sorry that you got a crash/lockup at a point like that. It definitely sucks. I only got 1 over about 100 hrs combined in the game and beta, and it was fortunately only about 10 minutes after a save.

I haven't had any crashes or freezes in what the game says is 90 hours ( but is probably about half that) but I am aware of some potential game breaking bugs so I am saving a lot whenever I can just incase I run into one.

To be fair, as a PC player for Eiyuden, it hasnt crashed a single time in 40 hours. I still have 3 saves on top of the auto save. Im an experienced gamer and ALWAYS have a backup save or two. There are tons of save points in this game, if you fail to save thats on you.

There is no reason for you to lose more than 15-20 minutes of play time to a crash with this game. Save points are almost everywhere.

Well except when the game doesn't even let you save for 75 minutes but that's a different issue....

It's a well known bug that's been around since the closed beta, doesn't matter what platform. I encountered it day 1 of the closed beta; you get a bunch of new runes after the Kogen boss fight and right after it's done and the cutscenes that follow you are sent to the entrance of Elteweiss and the rune shop is on the way to the inn - so it's only natural to want to slot in some new runes into some empty slots. The fact that such a major bug hasn't been patched yet is concerning. Perhaps inform yourself of the nature of such bugs before making such pretentious comments.

The exact same thing happened to me on PC. It sucks, yeah.

They do kind of toss manual save spots everywhere, but yea, there should be more auto-saves.

"But old Suikoden games didn't have it."

Old Suikoden games also didn't have many things this game has. Auto-save isn't going to break your nostalgia.

Have never used the auto save, this is not a game that you can have character death so often like X-COM.

If you use the manual save point right before the boss still doesn't lose more than 20 minutes of playtime, which was my point. Thanks for the education though.

There really is no argument for not having more auto-save no matter how boisterous or slow to understand you want to be.
