Is Momo a girl teasing or trans?
Momo appears to be a girl who makes the shocking assertion to Nowa she is a boy, and they share a light hearted exchange with him not believing her... he actually goes to correct her given she is clearly very girly...

Yes her wiki has her listed as female..

https://eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes.fandom.com/wiki/Momo

Who would have guessed how Brian and his team of woke-a-lisers construed this... Nowa apologises and is scolded for assuming her gender!! hahahah!!

Edit: Thankyou for clarifying the Murayama's intended portrayal of Momo being Otokonoko or a "feminine boy"... it is a shame Brian couldn't help himself and had to make this a "gender identity / pronoun" thing...

Yes yes ive seen all of the examples of the supposed "changes" and none of them have really held water. Its all slight rewording of whats being said which is a thing that happens when different people translate the same thing because as i have said translation is not math. There is no perfect equation that just automatically spits out a perfect indisputable answer.

we await your dissertation on the subject then, as there is quite a lot of ground for you to cover to explain how these lines are equivalent
Halko May 1, 2024 @ 3:03am
There is no such thing as equivalent in translation. TRANSLATION IS NOT MATH AS I HAVE SAID MANY TIMES. All a translation needs to be is close enough to the original intent to carry along the idea which the translation does plenty well. You might not like the tone or the word choices or whatever but at the end of the day if the concept is passed along the translation is fine. There will always be something lost in translation which is why that phrase exists in the first place and there is an argument for saying as little as possible needs to be lost but that is not what you are arguing for. You are arguing that its all a conspiracy to ruin games which is why you share all of the posts and drivel posted by the people that are using the conspiracies to generate clout and income.

It was never about translation accuracy. Its about bumping up numbers for a bunch of dramatubers and twitter accounts and you are all too gullible to notice.

So surely you can explain how each line carries the original intent, the thread managed to argue the opposite, is there any reason you can't do the same?

He can't because he's being intentionally dishonest and making the argument that unless they rewrote the entire story it doesn't count.

Bad faith and gas lighting seem to go hand in hand quite often by a certain few posters who run interference on anything resetera localiser related

No idea why that could be though

Would be nice if they could at least drop the 'its just fun' excuse for 1000 changes that didn't need to happen and were unprofessional
Halko May 1, 2024 @ 3:48am
Please the only people being dishonest are the ones taking a few literally throwaway lines that dont really mean anything in any context and making a huge deal about how it "ruins" the game. It doesnt matter if he apologizes somewhat or responds questioningly since hes not being confrontational and the tone of both is close enough that it has no influence on the discussion. Its a throwaway line that only exists to show he is flustered in one way or another. The ONLY difference is an extremely slight connotation that means nothing unless you have some kind of agenda against translators for "inserting politics." All of the examples follow this trend and im not gonna waste my time going through all of the examples in an attempt to satisfy someone who will never be satisifed.

And invoking a bunch of boogieman terms like resetera localizer and gaslighting doesnt mean you have a leg to stand on. It just means you are dog whistling your own political stance and agenda which is entirely made up of conspiracy theories.

What's my political stance?

Referring to the original topic, yeah, this is a prime example of the toxic poison coming from a lot of western translators that drives me to oppose their involvement to such a degree.

Thank you for showing me this. I'm using this to further add to my drive to work on the AI TL mod.

Femboys, traps, and otoko no ko shouldn't have to live with this kind of erasure, no matter who its coming from.

Yeah, the artists vision should always be respected and if the localiser really wants a certain story to happen, they are free to write it themselves in their -own- story instead of co-opting someone else's work to push it

Reposting the same image that has been posted multiple times isnt going to change the fact that havng Nowa apologize somewhat instead of having him contemplate a bit doesnt change the overall meaning of the scene in the slightest nor change his character. It is a SLIGHT difference that only means something to a bunch of weirdos that want to shoehorn conspiracy theories about evil translators into everything. Its not inserting politics or somehow changing anything important. The scene ends in the same way and all character relationships and plot points are unaffected. The "changes" mean NOTHING to anyone that isnt sucked into the alt right segment of the internet and complaining about it is nitpicking at best. It is FINE. Getting worked up over something so trivial is stupid.

Mistranslations are always mistranslations.

Just a note that the fandom wiki is probably incomplete. Unlike eiyuden.wiki.gg site which has been updated by dedicated community members since the beta, and is already linked on official pages such as the official eiyuden discord.

Fandom wiki is also a terrible site in general (too many disruptive ads), any serious communities these days tend to avoid using fandom wiki.

The issue that was commented on the start of this thread is also another example of the incompleteness of the fandom wiki.

Ok so I was misremembering, the main reason seems to because her character killed another character, but there was absolutely at the same time discourse around her being gay/too masculine.
