The localisation is hot garbage though, one of the worst ones I've seen in awhile. Only Fire Emblem series have worse localisations.
... What? Nothing about the western release says anything about Momo being transgender... He's super clear in the script that he's a dude. Just really likes being cute.

It is also CLEARLY stated in the story that the delusional tinfoil hatter posted that they are a boy. FULL STOP. Literally that they are male and enjoy cute things. Nothing with the translation is inherently wrong or changed in any way that actually matters. It is yet another attempt to rile up a bunch of morons to get angry for attention. Just like the other hundred examples.
Eh, I'd be far more likely to attribute it to someone not paying attention than someone pushing an agenda. Someone was adding a bunch of characters with their base info. Saw feminine sounding name, female looking image, and thought maybe the 'male' in their spreadsheet was a typo.
Never attribute to malice what you can attribute to someone screwing something up.
Given he is also a magical girl, it's not surprising someone in game would assume he's female.
You know it's funny, when I got to him in game I figured THAT would be the hot button topic about this game. Silly me...
Na that kind of stuff generally doesnt kick up pushback when its treated as something of a joke and not taken seriously like it is in most japanese media. As soon as any sign of actual support for gay or trans people like having the AUDACITY to put a trans flag in the game or having gay people exist thats when the weirdos come out with the pitchforks. If anything how most of this stuff is portrayed in japan is how they like to see it since its all simply a joke and dismissed without any actual comment on any of it. I mean the only examples we have for stuff like this in the game is the incredibly flamboyant trapper guy and Momo both of which are pretty stereotypical and avoid any and all actual characterization other than "haha weird people."
This is correct 100%

Notes
This character was mentioned in the voting for DLC 3. The sample story was called Magical Girls, Assemble!. "Mellore, Carrie, Momo, and other magical powered girls set off on a hilarious story that is too cute to pass up. The Alliance forever changed after a bit of girl power was poured into the mix. Faceoff against mind bending unique battle scenarios and leave it to the magical girls to save the day."
