Scrap Metal Transmutation?

I am drowning in scrap metal. I can't do anything with it. It won't break down to anything. I can't transmute it to anything useful. It's just taking up all of my storage space. Am I missing something?

You can press it into metal sheets and then compress four of those metal sheets in the nanoforge. It takes up less room in storage. You can then store them away in the recycle bin and put it somewhere out view until you need it.

I tend to make a lot of pipes for both the resource printer and Weed Spray. Metal sheets as noted above as well, in addition to Nails.

You can always break those items back down to their exact build components.

I know I can do those things. However, I don't need those components. That's just circular. I can turn them into things I don't need that then break back down into scrap metal again. With plastic or slimes or food components, you can turn them into biomass or plastics or other things of a different category. But with metal, it's a circular loop. And I don't need metal. I need other categories.
