Is it just me or there is shortage of plastic?

A lot of recopies require bottles and for whatever reason most of recipes that then use those bottles of (salt)water do not return bottles. Resulting in constant need to fish for more plastic.
Considering how tedious fishing becomes after few hundred repeats, it is a big problem. Because done salvaging yields absurdly low amount of plastic. I get from fishing round same amount of plastic as from salvaging, that can be done only once a day.

...So use the many recipes that don't require drinking water (and thus bottles)? By the time you reach the endgame recipes that use more drinking water, you should have the molecular synthesizer, which should neatly solve your plastic problem.

want/need more plastic, go fish without lure, or use the biosynthasizer to transform biomass into plastic. fishing i can reccomend. good source of food and crafting mats and you can get a lot of plastics. and even items to disassemble for advanced parts...

I am not at biosynthesizer part yet.
Only recently unlocked second scavenging location, where i cant do anything with half the location because "no inventory space". I presume i need to upgrade bot.
Also currently slowly working my way thru lower level of tower, disassembling everything.

If you are trying to bring back large items and don't have the bot platforms for everything, yeah you can upgrade the bot. You can also just grab one thing and come back for the rest later. You could also be out of inventory space in your own inventory for things that are moved directly to that.

why not? you can carry at least one and if your satiety is above 65% or 70% you can carry one more. nothing holds you back from carrying them anywhere.
if you mean the expeditions, you have 1 platform to carry bigger objects. but tbh, i have 4 platforms and barely needed any of them. you get more than enough on the roof. after you build the bridge, you have no shortage on anything i think. i am on my 2nd playthrough and barely destroyed the garden area.
about inventory space... you can upgrade that, and chests are your best "friend". also keep in mind that almost every machine comes with its own inventory. anything in there and your inventory is used to craft, the internal one is used first.

If you've already picked up a large item or something to dismantle from an expedition, make sure to actually go to the drone and take the item from it and you'll be able to go grab something else.

I've been ripping apart everything. So I do have some plastic but not as much as Plexi or sheet metal.

Yep, that was the problem. I did not notice it, as it did not stand out.
Plastic is still in short supply tho. Right now looking into upgrading that expeditions launch pad to lvl2, to unlock another area.

To get the synthesizer, you need to talk to Mariquin. She has a farming related questline that ends with her gifting you the blueprint for the synthesizer.
