Looking for plastic/biomass...
Anyone have any tips on getting those last few roofing tiles? I'm stuck going between running out of biomass and running out of plastic. I wish I could just use metal, since I have a whole chestful of scrap metal and even extras, but I can't find any way to transform scrap metal into plastic-- only biomass into plastic, which is an issue, since I still need biomass.
I'm down to just the last roof to go, but I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips outside of farming for biomass, doing expeditions when possible, and talking to the friends for materials now that I'm at max level with everyone...

That, and any way to get rid of an overwhelming amount of scrap metal.

The way I did it was to use the Mighty Nanoforge to make Carbon and Techwood from plexiglass and planks. Then I take those to the Ion Synthesizer and break them down into biomass and plastic. It's annoying, but it works.

Valid-- I was just wondering if there was any easier options. If not... Guess I'll get to work.

i used the nano mover to put all the bushes and trees in one place for colection and uv-towers to colect slime and ink

Good luck, I spent hours making all the floor panels and patched up everything I could see, but never got the achievement.

I saw the update fixed some invisible roof tile, so I'm hoping that wasn't the last one for me so I can't get it anymore.

Don't forget you can disassemble some items - so if you've got a lot of extra transformers, lightbulbs or electrical cable you can disassemble for a fair amount of plastic.
Also, use the farmers table to convert excess seeds/plants to biomass.

2 seeds for 1 biomass, i would rather just insta delete them that hold that button down for an age

Fish! The tentacles become 3x biomass each, and regular fish is 2x. And the anglerfish can give lightbulbs which become plastic when broken down.

There aren't any non-grindy/non-annoying options, sadly. You're going to be fishing for mats, or breaking down mats into other mats, or converting this mat into that mat that breaks down into the mat you want.

Trust me. Once I got the achievement, I decided I'm NEVER roofing the non-essential sections in any game I play again... unless they change the method for getting mats. Too annoying.

For biomass: Use the nano transporter to move all bushes on the starting rooftop and the one on the other side of the bridge to one central location that's easy to harvest. That'll give you a large, stable supply of biomass.

For plastic: convert blue slime and ink. You'll get lots of both. And use the drone to visit stores and places that provide you with free plastics.

Agreed - as annoyingly grindy as making the roof patches themselves. The game would definitely be improved by adding some way to craft multiples.

Annoyingly the (upgraded) converter has bulk recipes. Now if only it extended to the other benches. Otherwise holding the craft button should have a much higher max speed.

I like the upgraded converter although I don't like the menu, hope if they add batch crafting it's not by flooding my UI with copies of the same recipe.

I don't understand why there isn't a robot to harvest biomass from bushes. It would help the pace of the mid game a ton.
