If you don't have the means to build a dome to protect yourself from slugs, there is a simple way to prevent slug invasions every evening. Just use the move tool and make a shrub barrier in front of the plants. Very easy for the plants closest to the start, just two to three shrubs are enough to block the path of slugs and prevent them from destroying your structures. Good game without slugs.

Needs to be a no invasion mode, where the slugs still spawn, but don't move.

I set my "Coziness" all the way up in the settings. Now, the slugs only try to eat the wild plants and leave all my other stuff alone. Makes it easy to go after them to get tails to fish.
