Developers opinion on Mods?
I have just heard about this game and it looks intriguing.

If the developers read these posts I would love to know what your stance on me making and releasing mods for the game would be?

I will probably start with a twitch integration mod that let's streamers trigger events based on viewers actions but will also probably be trying to setup a framework for adding new modded items and stuff to the game too.

Hi! Theoretically we are pretty fine about the idea behind mods. The problem is that we never made a game supporting mods and not currently know how to do it right. But I Am Future seems like a game which could win from community mods due to game's system-based design. We'll dig into this theme after the game EA release and if we decide to support it, we'll let you know for sure. Thank you for a question.

Regarding Twitch-integration: really fun thing to develop and watch how viewers interact with the game on twitch. Had some experience with developing twitch-mode in SKYHILL previously. So if we'll not support mods we could consider making it on our own.

Just as an FYI :-) all you have to do at this time is really just a couple small things.

1. Please Do NOT ever turn on il2cpp as this makes unity modding 1000x harder.

2. Please do not use the stripping feature when compiling as sure you can save like 3mb of space but this again makes modding harder.

Other then those 2 things modding your game should already be VERY possible using Bepinex and HarmonyX patches and it will just take some time for a modder to make up a modding library that makes it easier for others to load new things into the game like we did with sooooooooo many other unity games before this.

Subnautica, Valheim, Risk of Rain 2, etc.

Not a single game has suffered from modding support, but almost all of them benefitted greatly. After all it is free content, that devs do not have to put work into, while benefitting thru increased sales.

Yes would very much like to see modding support as this will add years of life to the game as well as many things that you might not have time to implement. The game looks very sharp and interesting looking forward to trying this once I upgrade my potato pc lol
