I usually bring a tank of chickens and unloading them on the shadow slimes. you can use something like snowballs but I find them harder to aim, and with chickens or other items, the shadow slimes can produce extra plorts just by touching what you've already shot out.
It is very grindy, you need about 1000 shadow plorts to to open everything. Good luck!
And speaking of important dials to get, there's one hidden behind a statue in the lava area.
I've also been marking convenient shadow-farming spots in the Labyrinth with a flag so I can easily do a round of all those whenever I return to the Labyrinth. I always try and corner them at close range against terrain and just shoot as many hens at them as I can manage.
If you're in a really enclosed space like a small room you can also try and use the vac stream to make a little vortex and have the shadows and items knocking into each other, they'll keep making plorts.
