Shadow Slime Techniques + Route
Hey Y'all. I've seen a lot of people upset about how hard it is to get shadow slime plorts. Personally, after I finished exploring the labyrinth I found an easy way to get 75+ every run through of the labyrinth.

My techniques:

ALWAYS get as close as soon as possible and focus on ONE slime you can trap against a wall if possible.

Small Groups: Once I spot a group of shadow slimes I stop and shoot whatever my stack is (I use chickens cuz they seem to hit extra more often than fruits/veggies/resources/plorts) and after the first hit I start sprinting towards the group. This usually gets me 5-8 plorts per group of 3-5 slimes. If at all possible, I will corner one or two against a wall and non-stop fire at them. This usually gets me AT LEAST 4 extra, usually more.

Large Groups: They tend to spawn in enclosed areas or on large stairs, effectively I get as close as I think I can and just sit and spray left-to-right in about 45 degrees. They bounce around and get at least 10-15 plorts usually, if I get close and focus, it's closer to 20.

I DO NOT go after shadows close to edges. It frustrates me more and often causes plorts to fall anyway. Also, I DO NOT try to collect from slimes that spawn on me and immediately scatter. It's frustrating and disheartening. I don't start vacuuming until all shadows slimes are gone. I always ignore the disturbances.

This may not seem like a lot but with how often they spawn along my route I usually ended up having to stop to deposit plorts before continuing until I upgraded my tanks.

My route:

Enter the labyrinth in one of two ways...
- Through the Ember Falls rift (if you don't have a direct teleporter to the rift, go through your Powderfall Bluffs teleporter then re-enter it and jetpack to the entrance from across the inlet. Takes max jetpack.)
- Using the Grey Labyrinth Teleporter and then run back to the Ember Falls rift collecting shadow slimes as you go if you want (assuming you've opened the slime doors, if not, the Powderfall Bluffs is easier imo)

Now, starting in the rift room, go down to the enclosed cave at the bottom of the lava pools. About 50/50 chance of 10+ slimes being there and they let you get just outside the room before scattering. Once you come back up the pools, there's usually 1-3 different small groups in the hallway. After getting them, I check through the glass floor in the first cave room. If there aren't any slimes in there or the room below, I leave the way I came and continue to where the slime doors were. Usually there's group in here, could be small or large. I skip the large lava atrium, it's just not worth chasing them down.

Then I run/fly through the green area and to the other underground area. (This door has to be opened from the other side, accessible from the hedge maze or the Starlight Strand rift.) Usually I collect resources as I go, but run into the big pipes/teacups room. Sometimes there's a small group or two in here.

After, run through the bottom exit. This will take you to the room where the bridge raises and there are pink-hunter ferals. Once you're across the bridge, shadow slimes will have spawned back at the start. I get 10+ plorts in this room every time. Continuing along you can go straight into the room with the circular pillars, go up and straight across through the open pipe, sometimes there is a small group in this hallway. Run through the next room and into the room with the large coral in the middle, go up the water spout behind it. Sometimes slimes will spawn on you here, they're not worth it cuz the scatter immediately and it's so open. Fly down to the broken door to the right (observation room). There are usually 1-3 small groups here, focus on the furthest group and rush them against the wall, usually 8-10 plorts here.

Leave the area towards the Starlight Strand rift now, checking behind anytime you hear spawning. Usually 1-3 groups of shadows will spawn behind you, gaining 7-15. In the Starlight Strand big room, fly to the center and then run along the pipes, usually at least two small groups will spawn in this room. Both small alcoves, the center, the stairs you entered from, or the rocks to the west of the center. Anywhere from 5-20 in this room. Alcoves and stairs will give best amounts.

Jetpack out, going up the pipe. Shadows will spawn in the pipe. They are not worth it. If you go left through the maze there are usually 2-5 slimes there and you can get a 2-3 plorts from them. Going out of the front of the maze there is a sunroom directly across from this, usually there is about 5 shadow slimes there, 10+ plorts.

DONE!

~~

I'm running this route while typing to make sure I'm remembering correctly, using the Grey Labyrinth direct. I got lucky running back to the Ember Falls rift and got 40, normally it would be around 20.

Halls to Ember rift - 40 (VERY LUCKY)
Lava pool cave - 14 (If there, Average)
Halls running back to green area - 17 (Slightly High)
Bridge/pink-hunter room - 14 (Average)
Observation room - 8 (Average)
Halls to Starlight rift - 14 (Good)
Starlight rift room - 8 (Bad)
End of maze - 4 (Good)
Sunroom - 12 (Good)

This was a lucky run, getting so many plorts. On average I get around 100 plorts doing this. This time was 131. Obviously spawn rates vary and disturbances cause Shadow Slimes to not spawn but it's a good route.

Starting with 80 carrots, my finishing totals were 131 shadow plorts, 45 carrots remaining, 6 Magma Comb, 11 Tin Petals, 8 Black Indigonium, 11 Aqua Glass, and 5 Dream Bubbles.

tl:dr, Get CLOSE to the slimes ASAP, target one specific slime, and focus on slimes in enclosed areas.

Use snowballs next time. You can recharge them with a snowball machine if needed, as they don’t require time to activate. Still great run! GG

snowballs break upon hitting anything right? the slimes can get triggered by stuff laying on the floor so I would say stick to resources
