Slime Rancher 2

Slime Rancher 2

I'm giving up on Shadow Doors
With how much shadow plorts are needed to open them, I'm going to stop opening Shadow Containers for now, and just collect the plorts until the amount needed to open is hopefully lowered to some reasonable number.

Devs, please, for the love of that's holy and beautiful, pleeeeease. Either do this, or let us ranch shadow slimes somehow. Finding and opening regular containers is fun and fullfiling, but with every Shadow Door/Container I found, I just groan and think of how much time I'll have to spend getting the plorts to open them. It's just no fun, it's a tedious work, and it's definitely not the reason why I play your otherwise great game at all.

i completely agree.

And the number of plorts varies, I think. Because in one capsule there were 25, but in others it seems there were more T_T

I thinkt this new mechanic is nice, but after opening the first 4... I realized on the map that there are 19 in total... :'(

it's not toooo bad, farming the shadow slimes at the magma area is a lot easier i found for farming, that and having like 70 chickens to pelt them with in my inventory!

Yes, exactly, if those containers were fewer, it would be manageable, but if we assume that average number of plorts you need to open all 19 containers is around 30 plorts each, then thats 590 plorts you need. Almost 600 hits on shadow slimes. With their spawn rate it's currently too grindy...

Now that I think about it, it seems that devs didn't really run the math and compared it with play testing...

I'd be down to maybe 10 plorts/door, that would be one trip to farm shadow plorts per door. Still quite a lot of trips, but much more doable.

According to the guide I'm using you'll need 975 to open all :) They range from 25-50-75-100 per door.

I just did the 2 that I really wanted the rewards for, after that I'm only opening some if I got enough plorts from casual exploring.

975?! ;_;

Some stealthy update just dropped, let's hope it's an answer to our prayers...

Just opened one, it was still 50 plorts :(

I thought it was a lot at first and some of them made me think it would be enough, but no lol. It was still fun to do another loop of the map seeing all the structures and unique sections of the map looking for more shadow slimes to complete the shadow doors/wells. I did notice that the slimes seem to pop up in their spawn areas more often than before. Yeah some of them cost 25 while others cost around 100, it was still worth it in the end. Also, there's a few areas around the grey labyrinth where a ton of tarr will spawn and I think that's why I had such low frames at some points.

Bumping this thread.
The shadow plort deposits/cache/dial thingies are far too gimmicky when they essentially serve the same function as the treasure pods. Feels like it was implemented so that players are forced to muck about as we wait for the next major update.

Did anyone think that maybe , just maybe , the devs did it this way so that way we didn't just rush through all the new content really fast then complain that there's nothing left to do?Why does everyone want everything to be quick and easy? whats wrong with a challenge? it took the devs months to make this new content and everyone wants to finish it asap instead of just taking it all in and enjoying it. It makes me glad I'm not a dev , I wouldn't want to make a game for people that I feel don't appreciate the hard work it takes to make a game like this.

Sun Sap is an even worse resource to farm.

I'll be honest, I just cheated them in. I advise you all do the same. May not be in the spirit of the game but also... I dont have time for several hours of grinding one resource that I can't farm.
If I could farm it, as is a central mechanic to the game, it would be fine. I am a Slime Rancher, not a Slime Hunter after all.

At this point im done whit the game, farming those plots is annoying, I don't think I'll play anymore

I've skipped every update since Powderfall Bluffs, so right now I've got enough variety of what to do aside from farming shadow plorts. I imagine it must be pretty soulcrushing for those that only have the new content left.

From my perspective, I'd vastly prefer if I could see which shadow deposits contain only decorations. I've already started playing with a map since I don't want to "waste" shadow plorts on non-essential stuff. Would also be nice if they showed a number of their price.

Someone on Reddit has posted all locations + prices + rewards, in case you wanna use that
