I thinkt this new mechanic is nice, but after opening the first 4... I realized on the map that there are 19 in total... :'(
Yes, exactly, if those containers were fewer, it would be manageable, but if we assume that average number of plorts you need to open all 19 containers is around 30 plorts each, then thats 590 plorts you need. Almost 600 hits on shadow slimes. With their spawn rate it's currently too grindy...
Now that I think about it, it seems that devs didn't really run the math and compared it with play testing...
I'd be down to maybe 10 plorts/door, that would be one trip to farm shadow plorts per door. Still quite a lot of trips, but much more doable.
According to the guide I'm using you'll need 975 to open all :) They range from 25-50-75-100 per door.
I just did the 2 that I really wanted the rewards for, after that I'm only opening some if I got enough plorts from casual exploring.
975?! ;_;
Some stealthy update just dropped, let's hope it's an answer to our prayers...
Just opened one, it was still 50 plorts :(
The shadow plort deposits/cache/dial thingies are far too gimmicky when they essentially serve the same function as the treasure pods. Feels like it was implemented so that players are forced to muck about as we wait for the next major update.
If I could farm it, as is a central mechanic to the game, it would be fine. I am a Slime Rancher, not a Slime Hunter after all.
From my perspective, I'd vastly prefer if I could see which shadow deposits contain only decorations. I've already started playing with a map since I don't want to "waste" shadow plorts on non-essential stuff. Would also be nice if they showed a number of their price.
Someone on Reddit has posted all locations + prices + rewards, in case you wanna use that
