Slime Rancher 2

Slime Rancher 2

Why are updates so slow?
I love both the slime rancher games and this one has such good opportunities to be better than slime rancher 1 but it has been in early access for 2 years! Will updates ever come faster or will it take 5 years to fully finish which would be a total bummer.

Even if we don't get new content to the game right away I feel like we should get teasers of some sort to see what is in store next.

theyre working on a whole entire new region right now, so it'll take a lot of time for it to come out! remember, they need to do loads of coding, make textures and models, integrate new features, do bug testing and fixing, create new slimes and plorts as well as update old slimes to reintroduce, build the map and make sure its navigable, ensure that new features are fun and balanced, and more. patience is a virtue :]

Assume that they'll leave the game half assed just as they did with the first one. It'll save you some dissapointment.

Yeah i didn't even realize it had been two years. I had to take a break once the snowy area came out so outside of finding the yolk slime once I returned, I don't have much to do right now. Still excited etc but I may just uninstall for the time being, still love the game though

even then it diddnt take this long for ogden/mochi/vickor's region's and ranch expansions,
i wish they would hurry up and tease something already and i hope this update they add something game changing and has more than half an hour of game play compared to the last two updates that were purely cosmetic's base updates

I just wish we'd get some sort of notes on what they're doing right now, been a while since they've actually communicated on the steam pages (I think 2 months or so).

I understand fully that coding a game takes a lot of time and effort (plus their company isn't the type to force workers to overtime / work on weekends and holidays), but I wish there was some sort of big road map. :slimehungry:

Agree. I was hoping on the Equinox that they would post a more definite date for release of any updates, since the website announcement in April said a Gordo-sized update was coming fall 2024. Even if they had to announce it was delayed or not coming until the very last day of fall, it'd be nice to have heard something about it.

They mentioned before that they take it slow cause they dont wanna push their devs, since health goes first and i respect that, but it's kinda insane that they take years to release slime rancher 2 which contains alot from slime rancher 1, then they barely release any updates and we are multiple years in early access now as well. It's kinda insane tbh. We don't even have a schedule or roadmap or anything to at least be hype over, so i gave up on this game tbh.

almost 2 years and still the regions available from the beginning of the EA, I believe they spent 1/10 of the profit into development. They are just lazy with excuses.

Sure, patience is a virtue, but how long are we supposed to be waiting? By this time SR1 added 4 new regions and the game officially launched.
That was all new content, including slimes, since nothing was there before.
Now in SR2, in the same amount of time, we got 1 new region, and 2 new slimes that werent here from the start of EA, and theres still a bunch of missing content that should be in the game to begin with.
The game currently, by all definition, is a more expensive downgrade of the first one.

The updates being slow isn't what really bothers me. What really bothers me is the devs said they know they have communication issues and need to and will work on it yet nothing has changed. Ever since their last content drop it has been nothing but silence on their end. At least let us know how things are coming along , even if they aren't as close to finished as you'd like them to be . We the fans are helping to support the development of this game so I think its only fair that we get kept in the loop as to whats going on.

I also respect that they don't want to push their devs but we should at least be told whats going on. They should be keeping us updated along the way so we know how far along they are , I think thats only fair seeing as how we paid for the game.

IMO yeah some transparency is needed. Going radio silent and not giving the community ANY updates on anything for months is quite worrying, since many other devs give atleast semi-frequent updates on progress.
something would be good, cause on the steampage the last thing in the steam page feed is from july 30th and it was a small bug fix and thats it, almost 3 months without even a small update/fix either. its kinda getting worrying

It's okay for the devs to take the time they need to develop the game. I think most of us would rather have a well-polished game that took some time to make, instead of a rushed disaster.

What's not okay is staying completely silent while the players wonder if the game's going to be finished at all.

I'm going to use a "bad" example, but there's an 18+ game which has been in EA for quite a bit, but should be released by the end of this year. The devs release a short summary each month, simply telling stuff like "This dev is working on VFX - check out the screenshot, this dev is working on animation, this dev is working on cinematics, this dev is testing, this dev is working on the sounds, this dev is working on mechanics", well, you get the idea. Just a little update so we know the devs are still alive and did not forget about us.

Here's an interesting chart: https://steamdb.info/charts/?compare=433340,1657630

Notice how the first game had to build to it's peak while the second seemingly sold all it's copies at lanch. HMMMM... i wonder why they're not putting as much effort in this time... Maybe it's because they have their money already and they don't see much reason to fulfil their "obligation" to the people who bought in to their early access game. What are you going to do about it? refund? no, you're gonna get five years older and sheethe/forget about it, or you're gonna cope and shill for the poor "indie" studio who are doing their damned best to deliver for you guys! for real this time! (and definitely not investing the money into literally anything else that could make them more money than finishing this game that they have already sold to the majority of people who would ever be interested in buying it)

Anyway that's my occasional SR2 vent over, see you guys whenever, bye bye. :steammocking:
