The way the food system works for the snares is as follows: Want to get a certain type of slime? Put its favorite food in the snare, and the gordo ensnared will have a higher likelihood of being that type of slime. It may, however, end up being another type of slime that likes the same food type (e.g. meat, veggies, or fruit). In that case, try, try again.
For example, when I got sick of twister-chasing and wanted to get Dervishes without pulling my hair out, I found Prickly Pears, and after using like four or five snares, I finally got a Dervish gordo. The other four snares had other slime types who also eat fruit.
That about covers it.
