Obviously, all new world geometry. Ranch expansions work the same way and there's the same number of them, but they all have 5 plots now.
There are five new slimes in the world, each with new mechanics.
The refinery and fabricator are available from the beginning. Rather than just paying money for your upgrades, they're folded into this system - you'll need to provide plorts and natural resources.
There's an early upgrade to be able to extract natural resources from nodes. The extractor buildings from the first game are gone.
All treasure pods can be opened as soon as you find them, you don't need to invest in higher levels of keys or anything.
Speaking of keys, gordos no longer have them as drops - instead they are positioned to block things, so by popping them you'll open up new shortcuts or even new areas.
The cap on how many chickens can be in a coop is waaay higher. It's a properly viable way to keep slimes fed now.
There's a new storyline, with an equivalent to Hobson's diary notes around the world to help you unearth it. (The current early access game doesn't complete that plot yet)
Some features from the first game are missing - drones aren't in yet, nor are slime toys.
I think that covers pretty much everything? Unless you want details on how the new slimes work or what have you.
