I agree with your sentiment but disliking a game purely for a character that you never see while playing the game is just braindead.
Wait for people to make mods, there were mods for the first game that allowed you to at least change the"ugly" Character clothing colors. Really feel its that ugly there is a refund option and other people to enjoy the game but you have a nice day :P
i play lots of games with attractive characters, most recently apex, cyberpunk and omega strikers, all have hotties
the easy solution is to not reveal this ugly non-existence character everyone keeps saying or let me change it if you had to reveal it to me

Gordon Freeman is actually the core of the game with a relevant story related to gordon, there's no such justification here, it's just an ugly character
