Story progress, save file lost?

Hi, playing this with a friend, great game.

After we restarted the PC about 15 hours in. The game will no longer show our save file for story progress. We can either start a new game from scratch, OR select our character save data and start the story from scratch.

Since we are over-levelled we could probably bum rush back to where we were but I don't want to repeat so much and am worried about losing side quest progress which may lead in to later side quests maybe?

Did anyone find a solution to this? We did have to fenangle the character slave slot load in local multiplayer a bit to even find our saved characters. We were hopeful when they were still there, but losing the story progress is unfortunate.

Sorry for this issue, it might be that the savefile got corrupted somehow - but we added a separate auto save system, that saves at regular intervals to a local only savefile with ending .dat1.

You can try to remove the corrupted save and rename the backup save to .dat for it to appear in-game. You will probably be set back a little, but at least not loose all progress.

I also recommend turning off steam cloud while fixing with savefiles.
