The count-duke is too hard
I'm having some major skill issues fighting this guy. When I inevitably run out of environment to throw at him it's pretty much game over. :lunar2019deadpanpig:

Stairs are broken, as are those who fall down them.

Trick is to do environmental damage: fire lamps, grenades, boxes, weapon racks and fire itself

I'm still having a heck of a time but if you stun him near a wall, you can combine sword and kick attacks to grind him down a ton as you bounce him off the wall. Be ready to exit though, because he'll break free once you take a level off
Use the environment to your advantage. Do not forget that you can surprise enemies by jumping over them or damage them by landing ontop of them. You can dodge until they are surprised, and then retaliate for a little bit of damage. I personally didn't find it too hard, but it still did take a few tries.

Well I beat the game. Some of the issues I had was disengaging from the Duke and having the target messing with my plans. It probably would have been a little bit easier if I had taken a few more vertical options. A lot of what I did was use the terrain to force the AI to backtrack so I could get myself some more room to maneuver and whittle down the lackeys

So I'm only on the second boss and even turn on invincibility I can't beat him because his white bar never goes away even when blown up or set on fire. I went on youtube to see what other people did and they just do the same things I did but the white bar goes away when they do it and then they can kick him?

Seconding this question.
After several failed attempts, I got the impression that the Count is immune to kicks.
Like a more broken Captain.

What's the trick here and how was a player intended to pick up on it?

Use fire lamps on him, also boxes. It's a fight of attrition

So what do you do after you've exhausted all the available boxes and lamps?

With all the extra enemies, I've found I was often throwing lamps and vases at the mooks rather than the Count.
I wasn't always able to tell which enemy I was actually locked onto.

Once you use all the available projectiles, you just fight him until you deplete his health. You can dodge his attacks, and right after the dodge you have about 2-3 seconds to attack him. You just need to be good at dodging. That's the base strategy to get most of his health down.

You combine the above with one or more of the below strategies

- Panache attacks, at the start of the level work on refilling your Panache by fighting weaker enemies. As soon as your panache meter is full, attack him with Panache. Rinse and repeat

- Throw fire lamps or boxes at him to reduce his health. Simple. Keep the environmental items to chip at his health and deal with his minions directly.

- Fall from height damage, just grab a throwable item and run to the top of the stairs (he will chase you). Once you are up there, throw the item at him, he will be stunned for about 2 seconds and you need to use that time to kick him off. If you do this at the stop of the stairs, he will fall and get significant damage

- Use the big fire for additional damage, this is similar to the above strategy. Basically, you can stun him by throwing fire lamps and boxes to him, so just grab an item and stand in front of the big fire. He will chase you. You need to dodge his attack so that, after the dodge, you he is between the big fire and you. At that moment, throw the item at him, he will damaged and stunned for about 2 seconds, at that moment, you kick him towards the fire at that will do additional damage and stunned him for 2 seconds, you kick him again and he will lose health and be stunned again. I don't know how many times you can use this trick but I think you can use it at least 1 which is enough for him to lose damage from the throwable item, your kick and the fire. If you repeat the process, using all the small throwable items, you can easily damage a lot of his health.

So here you have a few strategies to deal with him. But in my opinion, getting really good at dodging is key to defeat him. It took me about 10 tries to defeat him :)

was this from the final boss fight or the first one you fight him? I can't win in the final fight yet, his lackeys keep coming from everywhere... I'm pretty sure even soulsborne games aren't this hard...
