Family Aid is eating the coins.
I want to like the game, but Jesus!
The addition to family aid is eating up the coins to the point where I either had to stop building houses or turn off every work building to save up for expensive events like Festival.
Hopefully the trading update in the future will help mitigate this, because right now. You can't save up and grow the town at the same time, you have to pick one or the other.

Agreed. Too many events have negative consequences.

You probably don't have enough houses if you are struggling with money.

I keep a minimum reserve of 100 gold that I ONLY tap to stop nobility from dropping. The family money is cyclic, and you just have to plan for it.

I'm at 42-45 and I'm managing now, but around the 30ish mark, it get's rough when you're trying to get bigger buildings built (like the Lumber Mill) for example. Trading should mitigate this, like it did for Farthest Frontier.

Just because you have a choice to have an event does not mean you need to do a event.

it kinda does when they include negative consequences attached to them, such as take in these ppl and give them 75 gold or loose 5 nobility.

Family aid is a tithe you pay to your parents empire based on your Kingdom size. The early game may need to be tuned a bit as this seems harsh when all you have to work with is peasants not producing a lot of taxes. You're pretty close to the population count where you unlock the Condo and commoners, which produce a lot more tax and really start to shoot your income up and offset the family aid sink.

Hope this helps!

I can recommend to be careful with your Inn & Well placing, you can have a lot of houses with just one of them each. I usually have the money, it doesn't come too fast because of the greedy family but after a while it just starts to pile up by itself.

Sorry, i know this is an old thread. But does this mean, the more Extended land i Buy, the more aid i have to pay?

I Just got to this point. I'm someone who Likes to Play the Long Game and i Just got the Event to Buy two more Plots. It was my mistakes, as i thought i only Had to Buy one. And i don't know If the aid came from this, or Something Else.

I think it's based on population, not tile count. I'm not sure what the actual calculation involves explicitly. Buying more land shouldn't have any adverse effects.

Yeah. I played for a few hours and it has definitly to do with this.

This is my First Game of this Sort. So i have a few troubles. I now have 60 townfolks and a tax-income from 18, while struggeling to build my First bigger House xD. Although the Family aid isn't the Problem, but the maintainingcosts.
Might have to restart and try again xD.

My best advice is to GO SLOW! I will work my way up so I'm one person under the next threshhold and I'll stay there for a while. I'll build plenty of homesteads, stock up on wood and stone, get some money in reserve, then bump to the next level. By then I have plenty to build with.

Commoners can carry more! They are my go to for Laborers as well as Grainery and Stockpile. If I need to I can maintain them with a single Commoner and I use Peasants for things where it doesn't have an impact like the Theater, Inn, Messenger, etc. Some things ONLY Peasants can do like Farming, Pigsty and Chicken Coop.

As a last resort, time it so that you pause right before you get paid. Then remove everyone from buildings with an upkeep. In my game it's a huge pain in the butt, but it's a 225g difference! I am trying to get to the witch's house so I can stop the dumb curses so I need money to buy the land to reach it! :D
